Cannot get a good PR even after high quality backlinks

Hello fellow warriors,
I have been working on optimizing a jewelry site for quite some time now and really cant see why its PR is still stuck at "0". The site itself is one year old and I have managed to get high quality one way backlinks to it. The site in question is www.lenyaonlinejewelrystore.com. I will really appreciate some feedback on why the PR here simply refuses to budge.

Hi Jon,

Google does not like link sales and spammy links.

For example you have links from http://www.side-line.com. They obviously sell links.

Then you have links from http://chiong.cn/links/.
Obviously Chines, links to English site. Google does not like that.

These two alone are enough to send your site to the bottom.

Does that really have a large impact on your PR since if that was the case wouldn't it be a bit too easy to link all your competitors into the ground? Or do the links just pass on less authority (if not none at all)?

Google doesn't even update page rank that often. That last update took 9 months. It's the biggest reason it's an overused metric. Focus on search engine rankings and quality traffic, since your PR could be waiting a long time before it gets updated again.

I got my site to a PR1 with just 300 backlinks and was less than a year old. While time does play a role, I don't think it has that much of a impact. Alexa rank plays a role too, so it does matter how many people go to your site.

The PR of a page, that we can check, doesn't matter anymore. What really matters is the internal rank, or trust rank of a page. We don't have access to that.
