Google messing with me? Manipulating the serps?

Okay, so I did some extensive keyword research last night and found 11 keywords that literally all had less than 10 phrase match results.

These keywords all got at least 500 searches/month, up to 1500.

Today I go through and check them again and they show up with thousands of results for some of the keywords. Does Google have a system that detects when people search for competition? It's almost too coincidental that most of my new keywords now have thousands and thousands of competing pages when last night they literally had none..

Anybody else experienced this?

Only a couple of my keywords still show up as less than 10 results.. one had only 1 competing page, another 0 (no results found), and 3.. so on..

I don't believe Google have that tool which will show us..

As you know that google keyword tool is not accurate and it is all estimate so it can changes and the keywords moves depends on the market moves..

    Thanks for sharing this topic..

Nope, this only happens to you.

You have been flagged by Google as the one person in the world they wish to mess with. They have written special code they call the Mess With DrFresh code.

It only comes into play when you do keyword research.

I don't know what you did to make Google mad. I don't know what it will take to get Google off your back.

Perhaps you could fake them out by outsourcing your keyword research to someone else. Or perhaps you could do an initial faux keyword research session then later do your real keyword research. Or you could set up a second identity, kinda like a spy, and surreptitiously do your keyword research using that second identity.

Man I'm glad I'm not you. Can't imagine being the only person on Google's list of people to screw around with.

Keep your chin up, perhaps someone will piss them off more than you did and they'll put you on the back burner.

      lol nice ..

I just assumed Google has a way of "fighting off" internet marketers since usually everything we create online involves a profit for us - vs. the free info that's already out there..

That's why we try to make everything look natural instead of spamming backlinks everywhere all at once - because we want to appear to Google as every other high ranking site does that got there by default...

I'm not saying they picked me out of the crowd, but maybe they detect it somehow and throw in tons of results to keep us from dominating everything..

Blah probably not. W/e i was just pissed earlier when I saw my keywords go from 0-9 competition to like 50,000 overnight.

I'd instantly be on the first page as soon as Google plays with my sites - I've got like 4 or 5 that still show no competition

No, no. That's just Google being Google. For the past few months those search results numbers are 100% unreliable. You can do a search and find 400,000 results, hit refresh and see 14,000,000.

Actually, that's a good point - does anyone know of a more accurate/stable tool to research the number of search results?
