Yes, it has been for some time now! You'd be taking care of all aspects of Social Marketing for clients....

-First and foremost, you would be writing for them...content, posts..etc.
-Creating social media strategies..getting thier "plan" in place
-Setting up thier profiles on websites like LinkedIn,Facebook,Twitter,Foursquare etc.
-Getting out there and being "social" with your cients target
-Being on TOP of your game when it comes to new Social Media Marketing efforts/trends
--Really you are developing, fine tuning, creating a positive image and nurturing a social presence for your clients!
There are many more aspects to this position such as knowing the ins and outs of Social Media SEO, Web 2.0, Branding...etc.

Do a search of folks in this field and you'll get a better feel of what it entails.

To start....You'd create a "fan page" for your client on FB. Pretty easy to do (well, maybe not for some)....once again..just google it.

Or you could outsource this task here, on fiverr, elance, etc. Then get to building a fan base and creating topical content for the page.

One great way of marketing the page is similar to what's going on here. Thanks to the new features for Facebook pages, you can go to other pages and comment as the company you represent. Depending on the niche or industry of the company you represent, you can find other companies and leaders on Facebook. Getting involved in discussions on their walls and actually saying something useful as opposed to spamming helps a great deal.

Another great thing about Facebook is "liking". It's so social that anything you do can make waves throughout friends lists. You can easily do contests and the like to get people involved.

Speaking from experience, Fiverr has a lot of deals having to do with Facebook pages. For $5, a lot of things are worth it.
