Duplicate Content and SEO - SUPER Question

what happens if I add duplicate content from Various other sources but do proper on page optimization, and do proper link building... what is the case here?

I am curious for 2 reasons:

practicality when it comes to building the rank of a new domain, you can start off with duplicate content until your at a pr3 and then focus on better content and monetization.

the other reason, I would like to know how much I would have to sweat auto-blogging (through rss feeds) in terms of the duplicate content, if i just target 1 main keyword and 4 branch keywords with good linkbuilding.

    The problem with using duplicate content on your site is that it might not be displayed in search results. The search engines generally give preference to the original version and then after a while they start hiding the copies. If you want visibility then you might consider being original.

    Doesn't mean it's going to be a problem, just a potential risk you won't have with original stuff.

    You know, I STILL don't believe in duplicate content like that. I believe you will be devalued with duplicate content on your website, like duplicate tags, duplicate content on your page. Otherwise, you could steal an article from someone the second it is posted, and possibly get it indexed before the original site!!

    I don't think you will be punished. If you're really worried about it then I suggest flipping and spinning what you get.

    If website A and website B have the same content.
    But website A's PR is much higher than website B's.
    Then website A's content would come first than website B's.
    Or some time, the same content in website B would not display in search engine's result page.

    Original content is best - and content is the KING.
    So try to write every content by yourself, in your words. Hard work would cash..

    Try to build an authority site and after that u can use duplicate content. G tends to give more power to high pr sites

    I think it all depends. If you have a whole site of duplicate content, then Google will certainly devalue your ranking. I still believe though, if you have merely copied and pasted a single article, Google wont bother. Why? It is actually almost impossible to have exactly the same page content as somebody else. Even if you copy and paste a whole article, your page layout etc. look very different, and Google takes this into account as well. Well, thats my opinion and so far I have never had a problem by using single duplicate articles or snippets.

    I dont agreed that duplicate contents is like spamming. Its not duplicate, it is syndication of contents.

    As long as you add some make up to the contents, like change the title a bit, add photos to it, youtube video etc, to google eyes its not a duplicate content any more. Make some touch up of the contents and you are good to go! Dont't worry about all those negative post you received here.

    I for once, have experienced using such contents and with a bit makeup, Walla - my post get index before 24 hours, you need to do a bit of seo.
