Help! is this google dance?

One of my site was ranking and getting me around 50 unique visitors everyday.

I updated the site and added lot of new content and for last couple of days the traffic is almost gone to NIL.

the site is still in google's cache but way down in the listings.

I hope and assume this is just some google way of updating the site. Or could it be some long term bashing?

I mostly used original content on the site. Just copied 5-6 lines of text from wikipedia for some quote.

Can that create problems as well?

You gotta keep up the backlinking work. It's an ongoing job otherwise your competitors will simply overtake you. Have you been consistently getting backlinks?

Many possibilities, but on new websites this is happening.

My site was #14 as a 4 month domain and about 2 months ago I lost my"article submission" ranking at the #14 spot on Google, Yahoo kept my in the top 3 and top 10 for all the keywords.

Two to Tango is what I reminded, so I'll just keep the consistent submissions and in a couple of weeks Google will just a take a break on their dance. But consistency is the deal.

I am getting the feeling that your homepage was ranking because of some content which was replaced by new content and probably the new content titles are unrelated to the old keywords which were ranking.. anyway can't be sure before looking at the site.

It sounds like a good old fashioned Google Dance. Difficult to diagnose without more detail though

It could be a Google Dance since it is a newer site. Also check your content and make sure it is not duplicated anywhere. Google just did a update on their search algorithm.
