Blog Commenting: Finding Blogs in your Niche

I have been building backlinks to a site of mine for about 2 months. Part of my backlink build regime include blog commenting on .edu/.gov blogs. I use a google search phrase to locate these blogs but I was wondering if there is a way to find relevant blogs in my niche an easier way.

Reason being, if I add to the phrase "cherry" to it and hit submit, then I get blogs showing in the search with nothing to do with "cherries" except for someone commenting in the blog comments named "Cherry Red Mustang".

Is there a way to find actual blogs related to my niche which allow commenting?

      When I look for blogs in my niche to comment on, I go to google and search for "my niche + blog" or just "my niche blogs" (without quotes.) There are some that allow comments and some that don't - you just have to look through them. If you really want to get technical, you can check the "view source" code and see if they have a no follow attribute or not.

    Are you ranking for specific keywords?

    What I like to do is just search my target keywords, then comment on all the blogs that show in the results before (and up to a few pages behind) my own listing. This way, you are commenting on blogs that Google feels are related to your keyword. You can do this for more than just blogs... e.g. forum threads that show up, news articles that allow commenting, etc.
