Link building to sites with the same IP

Hello warriors!

I'm new here to the discussions and have read through a whole bunch of different threads over the past year. Just a quick question that someone might have some input on.

I'm in the process of creating 5-10 "money sites". Before I go and launch them live and start link building, I'd like to know if I should host them all on different IP addresses or if something like the "Baby Plan" with host gator which will let me host unlimited domains would be good enough.

The reason why I ask this is because I intend to build links from the same sites back to my various money pages. Meaning...

My site #1 = receives link from link partner 1, partner 3
My site #2 = receives link from link partner 1, partner 3
My site #3 = receives link from link partner 1, partner 3

Will that have any effect if my domains are all hosted on the same IP address - assuming no one else on the shared hosting is screwing around.

Final Question:
Has anyone tried thebestseohosting? They have a good deal on 5 IPs for 5 Domains for about $120 for the year. I've only hosted sites with the larger companies like (godaddy, siteground, hostgator) before in the past. Or if someone can recommend one, that would be awesome.

Your input would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi smoh,

Don't waste your money, you are buying into a myth. IP addresses have absolutely nothing to do with SEO. Search engines don't use IP Address as a factor for anything related to indexing and ranking your web pages.

There is no SEO benefit in using multiple IP Addresses. The only reason to consider them is if you are doing something illegal or otherwise dubious and you are trying to hide your affiliation between the websites. In other words, they are only necessary when you are running a scam.

Thanks dburk! No scams here! That was my natural impression, but still had my apprehensions. Glad that's cleared up. If anyone chooses to disagree, would love to hear about it.

i am assuming your linking between your own sites is just one phase of your link building plan. there is certainly seo benefit from having diversified links from diversified ip addresses.

Yes. Only one phase of my SEO plan. On a side note:

Is it possible to get ranked (ideally pg1) for the same keyword phrase. For example, if you wanted to get ranked for the keyword phrase, "buy bmw accessories" and you have multiple product pages that you've been building links to with "buy travel mug" and the onsite content is good. Would it be an issue because the 2 product pages would probably be very similar to each other aside from possibly the model number/code names.

          For example:

Product page 1: BMW 325i Floor Mat
Product page 2: BMW 328i Floor Mat
Product page 3: BMW M3 Floor Mat

Could my lack of success be due to the lack of unique content on each page? If so, do I need to go through 5000 different products and create customized unique content on each one? We've been working on this issue for the past 3 months and it's been driving us all nuts.

just make sure you optimize each page for that specific keyword and that you also backlink each page using anchor text that matches the keyword. each page stands alone in google search rankings - your home page might not rank but you can have individual pages that rank very high for that specific keyword.

I understand that. We've optimized each page for each keyword and have been building links with the proper anchor texts. Could it be that because they are product pages and inevitably have "duplicate" information, that it could cause Google to only include 1 of the pages? It's not exact duplicate content, but it is very similar from page to page. Or is it that we're just lacking link love?
