2. Focusing on the commenting on the other blogs?

    If you're talking about a single blog, they are giving people lots of information on a topic that they are interested in. Then they use different monetization systems on their site.

      Exactly, you must publish regularly and consistently to build a good following.

      Make sure that you interact with other like-mined bloggers is a very useful technique too.

    People like a blog if they think its worth reading so, what good bloggers do is;
    they keep writing useful and detailed posts on every topic that is worth answering...

    I have seen many successful blogs writing on the 'How to' concept!

    Sharing worthy links they have collected after doing some research etc...

    If a blogger writes blog only to express himself, he doesn't need to focus on keywords or SEO. Blogging for them is a part in their daily life.

    If a blogger writes blog to promote product or make money from advertisement, they should always what things visitors are interested in, and which keyword to focus on. And they will always try every way to drive traffic, such as commenting on posts, social media marketing.

      Yep , you should submit your RSS feeds to as many directories as possible and ping search engines every single time that you add new content.

    I've always wanted to publish something, I was just never really sure what. When I got into a new field at work (competitive intelligence) and realized that most of the "official" stuff being published on it was in a very academic voice, I thought a more common voice might be useful, and I had a few ideas for short articles. Then I thought of other things to write, and decided a blog was the way to publish myself ;-) I started with Blogger, but quickly moved on to Wordpress. I'm still well into the getting-started stage though.

    Good content is a necessity to be sure, but it is no longer enough. If you aren't prepared to go out and promote the content, there really isn't any point in posting it.

    If you just want to post content, do it someplace that will promote it for you to some extent. Facebook, Hubs, etc... If you want a stand alone blog and you want to make any money from it you will have to get out and promote what you have written.

    Content is still king for getting people to stick around and to come back, but it isn't king when it comes to getting people to come in the first place.

    Did you ever notice that “author” is the root of the word “authority“?
