Hi

I have a blog in wordpress.com which is doing well, i was thinking to transfer it to an actual website to make some money from advertising.

But I had a lot of backlinks built, it would be hard to transfer to the new site, what would be the best way to do it?

Thanks

If most of the backlinks you built were for the home page then you won't have a problem but if you have backlinks to different articles then you're sure to loose the juice except you redirect which can be Herculean if you have so many artciles.

What do u mean there wont have problem if all backlinks are to my home page? The current address is xxx.wordpress.com; my new site will be xxx.com. Wouldn't that mean all the backlinks I built so far will be lost?

ohh, i get it now. I thought you already had your own domain just didn't want to use wordpress anymore. Of course it's certain that your backlinks will be llost. That's why i advice people against using free blogs like blogger et al because i've building so much backlinks and they want to migrate to their own domain. They'll have no choice but to remain there.

well dear, you don't worry about your blog. you can transfer in it actual site and your all back links automatically will be redirect in new site. but you just have to use 301. and wordpress automatically gives you 301 redirection.

How exactly do you redirect a site that does not belong to you.

I just looked into this redirect upgrade in wordpress

Is that mean when people type in the keyword, they going to see my blog address on google but when they click on it, they will be redirected to my new domain?

Or will it redirect all my backlinks to my new domain so that my new domain get the same juice and therefore will come up at the same position when people type in the keyword?

I basically want to replace my blog with a new domain so that when people type in the keyword, they will see my new domain rather than my blog. Is it possible?

yeah it is right. Wordpress gives 301 redirection solve service. your maximum back links will be redirect your new site where you want.
