Hi Warriors,

Do you happen to have any other sites that are like yahoo answers and answers.com? Are those sites called social marketing sites? Thanks!

    • This should help you out: How many other sites like yahoo answers? - Yahoo! UK & Ireland Answers

Regarding backlinks, most of the time they will be nofollow and won't pass any PR or give you ranking benefits. So use a free firefox plugin like Search Status in order to figure out if the sites' outbound links are "dofollow" or nofollow.

        Hey everyone,

There is a lot of debate on other threads in this forum about using other sources for building back links as an alternative to being at the mercy of article directories.

Would it be a viable back linking strategy, and would it be a better use of my time, with a better return on investment, to spend my time posting to each of these "question and answer" websites, such as Yahoo Answers, Answerbag, etc?

Even if these are nofollow, are these good sources of traffic? What is everyone's experience with this method?

It sure sounds easier to respond to 100 questions about your niche while including a link to your website, than to write 100 500-word articles.

        Thanks!

I think yahoo link are No-follow, which means google doesn't count them as backlinks to your site.

Correction. Google DOES count NOFOLLOW backlinks... I thought this was common knowledge by now!!?!?!

As for backlink building, Yahoo! Answers is not your backlink solution. Depending on what type of website you have and the questions that you could be answering, it sure can generate A LOT of referrals! It does for me atleast!

Thank you! I'm surprised this still hasn't been cleared up yet. NoFollow still counts guys!

That said, Yahoo answers and similar sites are best used for traffic. I don't know how much juice you'll get out of those backlinks.

From most yes you can, but yahoo answer links are nofollow. So they will not help google rankings, but it is great for generating traffic if you can do it right.

I'm not to familiar with yahoo answers but I heard after you work it so much your back links become do follows, so if your first starting off they are no follows but with enough work you can make them do follow links.

People make money off these sites ie yahoo answers etc.
Mostly by selling a wso claiming how I easily make $4000 a month answering questions, or my favorite buy my software providing automatic push button income.
If you find a relevant question and post a meaningful answer that gets voted as the best answer then the yahoo answers page will bring you lots of traffic due to its own high search engine listing.
The secret is to post valuable content (please dont tell anyone this could catch on)

If you're asking this question, then you really need to do a little more homework about how/what Search Engine Optimizing is and how it works...

I have used Yahoo Answers and gotten some traffic from it. I have also gotten some traffic from blogs which I think are using the Digitraffic plugin and scraping answers for content.

I get a decent chunk of traffic from the Yahoo Answers I answer. I try to answer questions that don't have a lot of responses (or that I"m the first or second to respond to) and I use my website as the reference (I only answer related questions). I've also gotten some good article ideas from there while cruising around.

I was surprised to see Mahalo Answers missing from the list of Q&A sites, that would be my only addition.

Yahoo answers and answers.com are Q&A sites not social marketing sites. Among of them are Blurtit and Answerbag.
