How important do you guys think Page Speed is to google rankings? I recently heard Matt Cutts say that this was something to pay attention to if you're looking to improve your rankings, but how high a priority would you place on speed? I understand that it is important for usability and a good idea anyway, but I'm specifically interested in the SEO side of the topic.

Also, do you guys prefer using Page Speed or YSlow? What would be considered a good score?

Firstly, good page speed is friendly to visitors.
If one type the url adress in the browser and press enter. Wait, wait and wait...wait for 10seconds or more to see the page display. He will be bored and wouldn't come to visitor the site again, even though your content is great.
So good page speed is very very important to visitors.

Then, just Matt Cutts said. Good page speed is friendly to search engines.

You can improve page speed by compressing the HTML code, JS code, CSS code and images. There are lots of tools online. Just search "html compressor", "js compressor" in Google.

Page speed is vital to both human users and the bots. The major search engines spend a lot of $ when they go round the web indexing sites. If the page does not load quickly, the bots can schedule the page for a later time. If it happens repeatedly on many visits, the bots will give up.

In your Webmasters account, under Labs, you can find Pagespeed with Google giving stats on how your site compares with the rest. There is a Firefox plugin also for testing page speed based on whose recommendations you can compress files etc to speed up the pageload time.
