Is just paying google for the right bar ads an easy way to jump to the top of the serps?

Wouldn't this get rid of a load of SEO hassle just paying google to be on those right hand banners?

Are there other factors involved?

How much does it cost etc?

I don't mean where google pays you I mean where you pay google to show up on the front page with an ad to your website- I don't know the official name for that.

Steadypay....You are referring to AdWords and yes, this CAN allow you to "skip to the front of the line", so to speak if done right.

It can become quite costly for those who are inexperienced with AdWords.

      What other factors are involved?

I'm just wondering if it might be worth doing over doing it the manual route in terms of cost/benefit.

you pay a CPC charge, and depending how competitive the niche is and who your competing with for those spots, you may have to pay a pretty fair bit.

Better make sure your site converts if your going down those lines.

Hmm so presumably if noone else is using adwords for the keyword then it'll be cheaper?

I just checked and noone is for that particular kw.

      Longer-tail keywords are typically cheaper.

BUT - and there are ALOT of them....

      • Your landing page must not be a bridge page
      • Your quality score really needs to be 7 or above
      • Lack of competition doesn't necessarily equate to cheap CPC
      • Your site must offer value to your visitors
      • You must have a full grasp of the relationship between the keywords you select and the page you are driving traffic to
      • You must understand that some topics are not permitted to be promoted via AdWords
      • You must stay away from high-traffic, broad-match keywords unless you are prepared to pay
      • You need to be careful that you don't burn through your entire budget in minutes (yes - this is ENTIRELY possible)
I'm sure there's lots more but my point is to really understand what you are doing and take it slow until you do.

Well nothing is converting yet since I just put my site up so am just beginning my SEO for this site.

If I was already on front page I wouldn't bother

you can get rid of th SEO hassle whenever you want by bring a SEO professional and over time t will cost less than paying for every click you get. It costs a lot for most competitive terms and the right hand results get only a fraction of the people searching for the term.

You can blow through thousands of dollars with PPC in a matter of days so make sure you know what you are doing.

Ok well since you mentions thousands as a ballpark that would be out of the question.

I haven't made a cent from IM yet so want the cheapest route 1st though don't mind outsourcing some things etc. if it is going to be a small cost (couple hundred max).

What you are talking about is Pay Per Click and there is a whole section of the forum dedicated to it

If i was you I would scan the WSO's and invest in a good ad words course before blowing whatever budget you have for advertising

I recommend Kevin Huttos ad words course - search for him on the forum and find his WSO

You can run a solid AdWords campaign with a budget as low as $20-$30 per day if you choose your keywords properly.

Too many people target the broad (untargeted) terms, get lots of traffic (untargeted), then burn through lots of cash with zero sales.

A properly designed PPC campaign can be like printing money.

There is no general rule whether PPC (adwords, "pay per click"), is worth it.
This market is very saturated with people bidding crazy amounts in certain niches, i am talking about dollars per single click for certain markets/keywords.

If your landing page/product converts like 1:100 (which can easily happen)..this means you will have to spend for 100 clicks first to get a potential sale....which rules out a LOT already.

Adwords is something where many newbies blast and lose a lot of money and it needs a lot of experience, keyword research, split testing, good product etc. to do it profitable. Otherwise you will blow a lot of money quicker than you can blink with your eye.

You also need to know that Google recently and still RADICALLY weeds out everything related to affiliate marketing....so if you are thinking to do PPC as an affiliate for clickbank etc. its likely they will can you sooner or later...as if PPC/Clickbank would not be hard enough already...

If your conversion rate is this, you are doing something seriously wrong.
