Hi Mike,

I haven't heard of fake page rank before. How does that happen and tie in with the link you added?

I did look at the link, but it didn't seem to show anything relevant to fake page rank.

PageRank is faked by 301 redirecting a domain to another domain that has PageRank. The domain that is redirected assumes the PR of the site it is redirected to (for as long as the redirect is in place, and a brief period afterwards). The site above was found by using the "info:" operator in Google for JonasRock.com, so info:jonasrock.com

The site that is returned here - if different from the original domain that you searched for - can signify that the domain was redirected to another. In this case, the site that was returned is a different domain with a PR8 (the link that Mike provided), which makes it obvious that the PR has been faked.

Dang, if that's really a pagerank 8 then it's a steal for just $51.

I once played with a Pagerank 6 site and found out that it's subpages gets indexed in minutes for long tail keywords and usually placed on the first 10 of the Serps.

Imagine how it is with a page rank 8..well that is, if it's really a page rank 8

Actually it IS a factor. So is the frequency you update content. That doesn't mean that if you don't have high PR you won't be indexed fast. You can have links from sites that get indexed often but not have high PR and benefit from it.

PR8 that would be fun.

I was editing an article on a PR6 site the other day and Google Indexed it within about 30 seconds of the initial posting, before the article was fully SEO'd.

PR seems to help greatly with fast indexing. I could front page rank a lowish group of longtail keywords in an hour I reckon, depending on Competition.

I can't imagine what a PR8 would be like. (well, a real one)

This is just a scam that's been going on for ages.

Seeing as there's already a couple of people in this thread
that were unaware it's fake I expect there's a lot more people
out there that are falling for this scam everyday.

I have experience of falling for such scams.

I had fallen for a PR3 but it was priced at just $20 though. Not such a big loss.

PR aged domains with original content on them, PRE GOOGLE and links to them from new listed domains and sub domains NOT folders, always show quick!

We always add a links page, with full content on the niche we are hitting, to one of our PR7 sites, this is not gospel but helps :-)

It's worth running any potential domain in an auction through Check Page Rank!

That does a pretty good job of telling you when the PR seems to be forged, as it does in this case.

It also reports that the site in question has only 2 backlinks so that would raise alarm bells too!
