Why am I not ranking for my intended keyword but another?

I have a keyword targeted domain which is 'productnamereview.com'. I'm actually trying to rank for just 'product name'
I'm on page one in the #4 position for 'product name review' but for 'product name' my site is nowhere to be found. I searched all the pages in Google and it's nowhere.
When I build backlinks I use "product name" as my anchor text and have never even used 'product name review' as any anchor text.
What do I have to do to rank for 'product name'?
