Buying Expired Domains

Hi,

I've been having a play buying expired domains. However, I am concerned that any 'bonuses' you buy (namely PageRank, links and traffic) disappear very quickly once the transaction is completed. It makes sense really. You have to move the domain to a new server, create new content and so most of the old pages will naturally return a 404.

Am I missing something? Are there some tactics that you can use so that you don't lose:

1. Any residual traffic
2. PageRank
3. Inbound links

Would love some help with this regard.

Truly appreciated. Thanks Allen

The PageRank will remain as long as all the backlinks are retained.

This can be achieved by recreating the old pages that these links were linking to prior to the domain expiring. You can use archive.org to look at the pages.

Make sure you enable Private WHOIS as soon as you acquire the domain.

The value of domains have been decreasing unless they have pagerank already or other benefits such as 3 letter characters.
