Difference between "posts" and "pages" for SEO?

Hey guys,

Im currently following the "100k adsense blueprint" and building some niche sites. The blueprint says the pilar articles for the main keywords should be pages and not posts (wordpress). The posts should be supporting articles linking the "main" ones (pages)

I just created the article but Im not too convinced about publishing it as a page. First, the title takes a lot of space in my top menu, which moves my logo and looks bad (imagine when posting more articles), I tried creating a parent page for the article/page, but the URL gets modified and I dont know if that impacts in the SEO performance of the article in some ways.

Whats the differences between "posts" and "pages" for SEO?? What do you recommend me? I was thinking about publishing the main articles as posts instead

Also, do you know if there is a way to not show the pages in the top menu and put them only on the sidebar's widget?

    Yes, there is an "exclude pages" widget with Wordpress. It works great.

    Now, as for your other issue. I was just about to post the same thing! I'm writing articles and setting them up as individual pages on my blog, not posts. But, as I look around so other sites, I notice that others are doing the opposite which got me wondering if I'm doing it wrong.

    I have a "home page" that basically lists all the titles with links to the pages with the articles. Is this not the way to utilize what I have? If not, please tell me what I should be doing.

    The main reason why they probably advocate pages instead of posts for your main articles is simply so that the pages appear on your menu. Nowadays, you can make custom menus in wordpress so you could just add posts on that menu or change the title so it takes less space (assuming your keyword is not the entire title...)

    posts can have tags and categories, this can be significant! I have some posts which simply rank for a keyword because its in the tags.
