How long does it usually take to rank well?

I made a brand new website and launched it exactly a week ago. I got it indexed then I did some SEO work with some packages and manually.

Here's what I did:
  • 23 - .edu links
  • ~300 "High PR" links - PR 4-8
  • 3k Link Pyramid (250 High PR top links, 2500+ second tier links)
  • 60 social bookmarks

My site is optimized with Title, Desc, and H1 Tags, using SEOPresser.

The sites on page 1 and 2 have less than 100 average backlinks. None have .edu or .gov backlinks. And none are fully optimized with Title, Desc, and H1 tags.

So my question is: How long should it take to get to page 1 of google? And what do I need to do to get all those backlinks indexed and "working"? Just ping them?

What is the quality of the links? Are they coming from sites based around the same theme as your site?

As for the competition, what is the average PR of page 1?

Based on what you shared so far, I don't think it should take long at all, perhaps 2-3 days initially.

They quality are mostly profile links. Average PR of Page 1 is 3. Its been 4 days and I am on page 11.

So they are basically low quality. I recommend you start getting some contextual backlinks - they are the highest quality links on Google's hierarchy.

If you've never heard of contextual backlinks, let's say there's two sites that have the same PR, same age domain, only difference is site 1 has 50 backlinks and site 2 has 2000 backlinks. Yet site 1 is ranked #1, and site 2 is ranked #9. Why is this? Usually because the majority of site 2's backlinks are low quality. If you were to look at site 1's backlink profile, you would most likely see tons of contextual links.

There is no specific answer to this. Normally keywords with less competition takes around 2 month to rank well while others could take as much as 6 months or more. However there are many people out her who have achieved rankings within a matter of few weeks.

Wondered if you experienced warriors could pls also help me with a ranking question?

I’m in the UK but my site is showing in my rank tracker as much higher for Google.com than for Google.co.uk. Am I making some critical mistake?

I am experimenting with a local business site – this is a personal experiment I’m testing with while learning the ropes. I bought .net exact match domain name (since the best ones for .co.uk had gone) and set up a site quickly, using manually-rewritten PLR. That was Friday. I’ve done on-page SEO with SEOPressor, a bit of pinging, set up Squidoo & Hub Page, some forum posts on sites backlinked to the top-ranked sites, and no other backlinking, Press Releases or article submission as yet. I am afraid to do too much too quickly.

The site was indexed after 5 hours and appeared on page 37, then 36, then 20-ish, (and even seemed to appear v briefly on G page 1?) and the various keyword-optimised pages are now hovering between pages 4 to 16 on Google.co.uk but pages 1 to 4 for Google.com, according to this report. Is this normal? Perhaps reflecting the increased competition in the local market? Or not? It is somewhat confusing and I haven’t yet read anything about this sort of situation.

Anyone know whether or how I can verify this, and whether I need to be concerned, or make some major course adjustment sooner rather than later, or just carry on following the formula?

    Many thanks!

Its weird but i have some sites 3 weeks old. 1 site is ranking page 1 in 4th position for 12K exact searches US and medium competition and another is nowhere at the moment with 1300 exact US and very low competition.

Though on the first site i did use Balks Backlinks (Jacked) off here. Worked absolute wonders. It danced a bit but seems to have settled in 4th. He has a package for new sites which costs $28 or so. Highly recommended service. 1 of 4 who i have found to be very effective on the WF.

      It depends on;

      • pace of content
      • CMS platform
      • niche
Generally though, even in most competitive niches, if you are adding in depth content (800-1000 words or more, with good internal and external linking) once every 7 days on average, you will begin it see initial SE traction within 2 months.

6 months before your traffic is creating daily profit.

18 months when it's profit is getting more serious.

36 month! LOOK OUT! That is when trust has been built with the SEs and Yahoo! and Bing start giving you almost as much traffic as Google - considering the linear scale of their market share of course.

This is using a Wordpress blog.

because your site is new, there is a high probability that google consider your back links as spam links and ignore them. (i said that because you made thousands of back links and its not look natural all the way). So its difficult to tell when you will rank well.

It can be read within a day if there's a back link to a highly PR site. However, actual ranking may take at least 2 weeks per page. That's where you start seeing results when you optimized a page.

    Just be patient.

By the way, be careful of filling it with lots of backlinks at its first 3 months... Google might ban you as spamming. So just be patient. Allow it to grow naturally for the next 3 months. Do manual linking first for the first 2 months. THen you can start mass link building after that.

If your site will be banned, there is no other way but to buy another domain. So be careful and be patient.

It really depends on how competitive the keyword you are trying to target is. Check the competition on page 1.
