2 Google Places Listings That Are The Same

Okay I just did a search today for the company name of my electrician client in Google. Here's the url to the Google search:

Code:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&biw=1280&bih=817&q=ray+power+electric&aq=0p&aqi=p-p2g-sx2g-v3g-j1g-b2&aql=&oq=ray+power+e
You will notice there's an "A" and a "B" Places listing. But they're not 2 different listings, they're the same. Both are verified which I did. But I've only verified one listing. I don't know why there's 2. All the pictures and info is the same on the listings.

One thing I did notice is the address on one says Glenmack "Road" and the other says Glenmack "Rd".

Also, one listing has the business hours and the other doesn't.

Otherwise they're identical.

Also, one last thing I noticed is one has "More about this place" at the bottom linking to his yellowpages.com listing and the other doesn't. It has links to similar places instead.

It's like the listing is the same with just very tiny details being different.

Do you think this is just a bug? Or perhaps Google is updating the info I added like business hours and the other listing will soon disappear?

Anyone ever seen anything like this before?

Your listing has got a cute little duplicate. It should disappear over time, but anyway you could report the problem the following way:

    1) Go to the listing WITHOUT "More about this place" section

    2) Click on "More" (a little under the business name)

    3) Report a place

    4) Place has another listing

I just deleted the one without the more about this place. The thing is, that's the one that shows up for certain keywords so I hope the issue will be corrected and the other listing will now show up for keywords.

I can't follow that. First you say they are the same. And both are verified. Then
you say you only verified one. Now you say you deleted one? Doesn't that
    imply that there was two?

Google places does not just get info from business owners. They get it from
local listings, yelp, yellowpages, superpages, etc.

That's why big chains do not have to worry about google places. And popular
    places don't need to worry.

If they are not exactly the same, it will appear to be 2.

You should have found out if it was already on google places to begin with.

No I claimed the listing a while ago and verified it. So I did check if there was already one and there was so I verified it. Now all of a sudden this new one popped up with very slight differences in the content. But all the images and everything are the same.

If you just copy and paste the URL of the Google search above in my first post, you will see the 2 listings.

I did not create the 2nd one. I never created one. I only verified the existing one. I don't know where this second one came from.

      • I've had lots of cases like this. It's some kind of dupe. I've dealt with so many different crazy types of dupes I give them names. Ghost dupes, merged ghost dupes, mirror dupes, split dupes, rogue dupes, innocent dupes, scraped dupes.

This looks like it could be some sort of a merged ghost dupe to me. It's not the same listing because the CIDs are different.

How long ago did you claim and verify the main listing? Did you make edits during the same session that you claimed it?

So you deleted the one that was in your account? You said you only had one in your account. Why did you delete it? It likely would have merged the next update. So now there are still 2 claimed listings out there, but you don't have either one in your account, is that right?

I just clicked report a problem on the one that didn't have the link to his yellowpage.com listing and selected this places already has a place page or what ever then in the notes gave them the URL to the other ones and said it was the correct one. So hopefully this will fix things?
