I read somewhere on WF today that if you have a wordpress blog that you need to use the noindex tag on your posts. What does that mean? Does this make google not index your individual posts so your homepage will rank and not individual posts? I could be way off here. Any help would be very appreciated.

Google and the only other search engine that count are pretty
smart these days. They know what to show and what not to
    show.

There is no reason to noindex anything on normal websites.

I have no idea why anyone would not want posts indexed.

Indexing has nothing to do with how things rank.

Wow, that would suck to only have a hoepage in the SERPs & nothing else!

The only thing I would ever consider adding NOINDEX to would be something like a "Privacy Policy" page or similar. Still, most of the time those type of pages sink to the bottom of your search results for a site:domain.com search, over time...

Do you realize that won't do a single thing?

All they need is a single internal link (member name hyperlink on most forums) on that forum pointing to the profile page, then the backlink still counts.

Indexing & backlinks are not the same thing...

I want to understand what you are saying here.

So when the Google bot goes to your forum profile and sees your backlink that is made to your site and it is noindexed, the spider is going to then index your backlink because you have another link on the forum pointing to your profile?
