Whether you are writing for article directories or your own website and blog makes a HUGE difference. If you are not the owner of the document or site you have to follow the rule of the web 2.0 properties.

There are way more article writing tips than just 5 points.

    Hi,

When writing your articles, try to write it so that it's readable to HUMANS and not only to search engines. Your site will end up getting penalized by Google in no time. Go for quality instead of quantity. And add these too:

    1) 2%-4% keyword density
    2) Keyword in the first and last sentence.
    3) Keyword in H1, H2 and H3 title tag
    4) Keyword in Image alt tag
    5) Bold, italic and underline your keyword in the top of your article
    6) LSI keywords sprinkled throughout your article

    Regards,
    Shafiq

This is the most appropriate answer yet on this thread. When I first started in this game back in 2003 I got wrapped up in the keyword density trap.

When I write now I completely ignore what the keyword density is. Don't care. What Google correlates is random mathematics. So Google wants to see variety from page to page. They want to see some pages that have a very high KW density, and then see another that has a very low KWD.

Same as tags, etc. There is truth in the use of H1 and H2 tags from what we have seen.

The interesting thing is that when you write (or have a writers) create content freely and naturally, the KWD actually goes up!

What Google really hates is seeing (caching and botting) cookie cutter content. I tried that and it was a $5000 dollar lesson in how NOT to add content.

Why do I make these comments as if they were fact? Because our company has published over 30,000 pages of content online - static and dynamic.

      Just write naturally my friend.

If you are writing for article directories, many don't let you add any more than the most basic html tags, so you don't have the option of setting H* tags.

However, if you are writing articles for your own pages, using H1/H2/H3 tags definitely helps your on page SEO.

Google likes to see articles/pages structured with relevant headings and sub-headings, in my experience.

Your overall title goes in an <h1> heading. Under this you might include one or two <h2> headings, and under those one or two <h3> headings, each with a <p> paragraph or two. Most of the headings and sub-headings would ideally include your main keyword/s and variations of it/them - but as others have said, make your content clear to human readers first and foremost.

          Two more thoughts:

I aim for 1% keyword density and not much more. I feel anything with density approaching 4% is so unnatural it is painful to read, and will hurt your conversion because people won't read it.

You can use other page elements to increase the relevance/keyword density of the overall page, which I have found to help with SERP ranking in combination with relevant article content.

Really, I do agree with you. These things are you can say a theory part only, So take it as theory part only. And while writing the articles don't concentrates on H1, H2, H3 tags as well as keyword density like things. All you need is to make your content unique that's all.

Keyword density refers to the number of times a specific keyword is used in proportion to the rest of the text.

For example if I have a 500 word article and I have my keyword mentioned 10 times inside those 500 words then my keyword density is 2%.

      2% of 500 is 10

Make sure you have links coming into your page. But don't create links randomly. They have to make sense. Don't do it for the sake of it. Also use keywords in a way that don't alter what you are trying to say in the article. Stay as true to the content as you can.

First draft -- I'll write the article just saying what I want to say, not paying too much attention to SEO. Then I'll copy & paste it into one of my Wordpress sites where I have the SEOPressor plugin installed. Drop in my keyword and follow the prompts for tags, keyword density, internal linking, etc. Add a photo with an ALT tag. Done. It's dummy-proof and fast.

You need to make sure that your on page is properly. Articles require a different amount and fill of optimization than posts for website do. Optimization focuses on creating a better defined and structured content that will allow to provide optimal solutions to the end consumer, which is in this case the READER.

Always optimize for one particular keyword if you want to achieve organiz traffic with this post or article. The keyword should be used to in the right spots throughout the article/post.

Keyword density is a main factor, make sure to include the optimal percentage of keywords while writing the article. It shouldn't be keyword stuffing and also it shouldn't be too low.

Mention your keyword term in the header, call to action and a few times in the text, if natural, but don't force it. Trying to focus on a magic keyword density percentage leads to unnatural sounding copy, and can actually be counter-productive with search engines these days, I believe, thanks to latent semantic indexing.

    Hi

I would like to share some tips on article writing
    • Articles should be original and information rich.
    • Articles should be keyword rich but not excessive to the point of keyword stuffing.
    • The average length of articles should be between 500 and 700.
    • Give a unique title to your article with main keyword into it so as to make it easy for web crawlers to identify and classify the topic of your article.
    • Giving subheadings, bullets and numberings to articles make it presentable and easy to read for potential customers.
