ok, so i was researching, and found a domain. i don't know if i should buy it. the dot com/net/org are all taken. but i can get it with hyphens as a dot com.

i'm only considering it because it gets almost 700,000 exact global searches a month, 1,000,000 broad, and over 800,000 phrase searches.

i'm tempted, but i don't have any use for it. but it just looks good to me. also, i know it only costs 10 bucks to register, but i've only got $76 bucks to last me a week and other things to pay for (i should probably give up drinking, lol)... i don't know if it'll be available next week?

should i do it???

they hyphens are a turn off, but still....

also, the competition is low according to the google kw tool, but when i type it into the google search engine, in quotes, there's 5 million results. but low comp???

i don't know what to think of this keyword.

the first page results are pr4 (two of them), but the others on the top of the page (above them) are pr0, pr1 and pr2. they're ahead of the pr4's.

i'm a newb, so maybe i'm going nuts. i don't fully understand, that's why i'm asking.

cheers guys!

Hey Skwurl, There are many shiney objects to buy. Don't buy this domain unless you're going to use it. The limited money should be spent only once you have something planned out.

Remember this, there is always another 'DEAL OF THE CENTURY' every week!

However, if you want to use it, here's what you can do...

    1. install wordpress on it.
    2. install the plugin pupsubhubbub
    3. install the plugin pushpress
    4. install google analytics plugin
    5. create a page ( not post ) optimized for the keyword in the domain
    6. go to google's wonder wheel and enter the keyword in your domain into it. It will then display several other related terms.
    7. write unique content at least 500+ words for each keyword and every day post one of these new articles onto a new page.
    8. Make at least one post with an opt-in form
    9. Make sure to create "privacy policy" "terms of service" "contact us" and "about us" pages as well.
Make sure that your blog title's first word is the keyword in your domain.
    10. Throw some adsense blocks on your posts and pages.

You may need to google some of the stuff that I've mentioned here, but I wanted to actually give you some value, and good luck!

thanks. i'm actually going to do that. it's only 10 bucks after all! that's all i have to lose, really. thanks for that, i wasn't expecting an answer that good!

the reason why it's confusing for me, is because i was searching it in quotes on the google that i use (i automatically get directed to google australia), and anyway, i went to the american google, just normal google, and typed it in quotes again, and now it only has 49,000 results in quotes?

so i don't know, unless google is screwing with me, hahaha!

but anyway, with 600,000 exact match searches, wouldn't i at least get some traffic if i can get on the first page?

    thanks

p.s. what to do with that traffic would be another matter, of course... ;-)

To start out with, adsense should do the trick. Also throw up an opt-in box with an incentive, that way you're building a list and making money on clicks. From what you said about the traffic and depending on the keyword it might not be a ton of traffic but having dozens or even hundreds to thousands of these and the money ads up quick.

hmmm... okay, i feel like an idiot.

i thought it was too good to be true, and it was. i was just on google keyword tool, and i had it set to 'all languages'!!!!!!

so the results were for every language!!! no wonder why the exact matches were so high. damn it.

    feel like crying, lol....

I definitely recommend only buying .com , .net , and .org domains. They are the most popular and if you do 50 random Google searches you will notice that over 48 of them have either .com , .net , and .org.

Buy domains that make sense for the niche, product, service or business you want to establish.

You can check out your competitors to see if you can out rank them...and you can build a site similar to them but with more content and backlinks..
