Hi guys,

Lets say I have the website kneepain.net with Adsense on it. The CPC is highest in the US and I set the Geographing Targeting for The United States.

1 - Will these prevent my site form showing in google.co.uk, google.com.au etc..
2 - Would leaving the Geo settings to unlisted be better ( server is in the US )

Thanks
Crowly

Depends on where most of the searches for that keyword are coming from. If you set it to target the US, rankings will drop significantly in other countries.

No, however setting it for the US may slightly increase the US rankings.

  • 1. A high CPC is an indicator only of a market that pays. Google could choose to pay you a penny or less per click on a phrase that costs an advertisers $5 plus per click. The quality of your offer in the eyes of Google matters most.

    2. Google lets you "suggest" but ultimately they will display whatever their software is set to display.

A better approach (which has been working great for me for years) is to block foreign traffic that won't pay. There is no use having visitors if they are empty impressions.

Where in the world did you come up with the idea that Knee Pain is the highest CPC? It's average at best. And you could have a single vendor bidding $5.00 a click and everyone else bidding $1.00 a click. Google will adjust accordingly.
