Hi all,

First of all I would like to thank you for viewing this thread.

I have a pretty new website at: www.akosblog.com. It gets 100 daily unique visitors, mainly from forums, Twitter, article marketing and guest posting.

I make about 10-20$ from it per month. But I have a kind of big problem:

I only get 15% of my traffic from Search Engines.

This is interesting because I have a local blog which gets 85% of its traffic (2200-2500 pageviews) from Google. It ranks high for specific keywords and it has very little competition.

What can I do to AkosBlog to rank higher in SE s?

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,
Akos

      Hi Akosblog,

hhhmmm....primarily, you need to target keywords with less competition !!!

Your currently keywords have over a million competive pages each one !

Try to find long tail keywords with less competition !!!

Well yes it will not rank itself. I build links very often. Anyway thanks for the tips.

Correct, this is the number 1 thing that will get your site jumping up the ranks. Focus on high quality backlinks by reverse engineering your competition to see where they are getting their high PR links from.

I looked at your site, and checked the keywords in the meta tag. It looks like you're targeting some pretty big keywords! To rank well for things like "make money online" and "seo", you are going to need some serious backlinks.

I suggest you do two things:
    1. Find a more targeted (long-tail) keyword to optimize your site for. You would rather be on the first page of Google for a long-tail keyword than on the 30th page for a bunch of major-league keywords.
    2. Google lists 15 backlinks to your site, which is a great start - keep that up! You want to get as many high PR backlinks as you can to bring your site up in Google.

    Good luck!

Another way is to follow your competitors backlinks. I suggest use Yahoo SE.

Do on and off page SEO on your posts and go after long tail keywords that have weak competition, even if they have a low search volume because they will bring you targeted visitors with less effort.

Thanks for the advice. I will try to target a specific long tail keyword in the future.
