Question about google PR update?

It seems that google updates pr value partially. I have checked some websites these days and yesterday I saw two PR8 sites became PR5. I thought google had updated PR for all websites, but I found later that other sites' PR remained the same. So does google update PR partially and irregularly now?

    Hi fun8848,

    It seems that way. In the past they would download and update toolbar PR data for the entire index at the same time. Now there seems to be partial or incremental updates to toolbar data.

    Bear in mind that real PageRank is updated in near real time, we are talking strictly about the toolbar data updates.

    I think they have two types of updates.

    minor and major

    minor are minor adjustments and are happening frequently while major happen only once or twice a year and have a bigger impact on the PR.

      I agree with this because some my PR sites don't update and other updates.

      PR doesn't have allot to do with how well your pages are ranking and how much traffic you get. PR just shows how many other pages are linking to another page.

      We have PR 4 blogs that make $30 a month, and PR 0 blogs that make $1500 a month. I would forget about the green bar and focus on the content and the competition levels you are marketing in.

    I was wondering when will it be the next pagerank update.
    From what i understood, there must be a major update in July.
