Pr formula / blog commenting

I understand the linking aspect of it to a degree. I am now starting to blog comment on pr3-pr5 blogs that are dofollow. My curiosity is if this is more effective than profile linking. I also want to just know how effective it is in comparison to a link in a guest post with a page having the same pr. I hope someone can shed some light.

PS: Please forgive spelling/grammatical mistakes, I am in a hurry to go somewhere and wanted to ask this before I got off.

    With blog commenting you can promote your site in related threads and your comment must be quality to gain backlinks.

        Your link appears in a more SEO-friendly area of the page in a guest post than it does in a blog comment.

        So although blog comments are awesome, the backlink in a guest post of the same PR, would usually be better than a blog comment.

        That said, it may not always be the case.

        For example, a blog comment would usually appear on an aged page, whereas a guest post would be on a new page.

        I don't really think it matters where the link comes from. Plus, adding a link to your comment (not the name field) is going to drastically reduce your approval rate.

    - Blog comment in PR3-PR5 actual page, dofollow, and relevant, will help your site. Quality backlinks, and also some of the visitors are very likely to clicks and visits your site.
    - Profile linking, if you just do by create a profile in the forums and leave it without any further optimization, then it's truly useless.
    At least if you active in that forums and leave your signature, willl have a little more chance to get some people find your site. As well as such a link-juice from your link signature.

    I wouldn't bother much with creating profiles. Instead, look for high traffic, niche related forums and become an active member. You'll start driving pretty targeted traffic to your site via your sig.

    I'm, obviously, a fan of blog commenting - but not the "blindly spam thousands of blogs with junk comments using automated tools" type of commenting. Go for quality over quantity when it comes to commenting.

    Love blog commenting. Many overlook the fact that there are people who are reading these blogs and they WILL click your links and arrive onto your sites.

    If you leave a great comment and add value, then you will have a great method for building both backlinks and traffic from within the blog network.

    Of course, Blog comment. Profile backlinks (which are hardly got indexed by search engines) will rather harm your website if they are overdone. On the other hand High PR blog comments with Contextual links (Anchor Text within comment body) will add value to your backlinks.

    Blog commenting and Forum posting are almost same. In both of them you can get direct PR juice. Yes they are very little in quantity but its also easy to create the links too
    There is a great chance to get direct traffic too. So I think its one of the best option for you.

      Sorry, gotta disagree here. They are massively different.

      Forum posting is more about traffic. Blog commenting, if done right, is mostly about creating quality backlinks. (Though you can generate some traffic from your comments. But not as much as forum posting.)

        According to me, Blog comment of relevant to your site is most effective for your site even more then any profile links and forum signature.
        Just try to create backlinks by commenting of high PR blog which is related to your site.
        But don't think that forum signature and links has no value for your site. Actually every Backlinks are most valuable to any site.
