Question about Adsense and CPC!!

When finding your niche for adsense, people usually tend to stick with keywords above $1-2. Why is that? Is it because you actually get paid a lot lower per click?

I just made my first adsense website about 3 days ago and it got it's first click and made .13 cents, which is weird because it says CPC is around 6.00?

How do you guys go about figuring out how much you'll actually get paid per click?

Thanks,

Jeremy

    Here is my thinking.
When you use the keyword tool and type a keyword like "diet plan" google gives you the estimated avg cpc for that keyword which is $2.21.
And when you type a keyword like "pills diet" the cpc is $0.00.
So probably there were no more ads displaying for the keyword you chose. Reasons best known to the advertisers.
In that case google run a different ad with different keyword with a low bid and somebody clicked on it hence low earning.

    I hope this helps.

    Ronn.

besides checking for the cpc, you will also want to check if there are advertisers bidding for them. The more advertisers the higher the bidding the more $/click you get.

There are other factors involved that determine just how much you, the AdSense publisher really gets from a click.

First of all, that ad that gets $6 per click may not even be on your site.

Second, you get a percentage of the CPC, around 63%- but I am sure you know that.

Other factors that affect the amount you get relates to where an ad is located on your site, Google's rating of your site and how many ads you have on your site.

Advertisers who land their Adwords (our Adsense) on a site like problogger are going to pay more for that advertising real estate, hence problogger will get more in Adsense income from the click.

For example, ABC Widget Co. puts an ad on problogger and pays a CPC of $30 because problogger is way up there in Google ratings. ABC Widget can put another ad on your site and pay a CPC of $1.05 because your site is way down there in Google ratings.

Companies using Google Adwords bid on advertising space. Premium space is worth more.

      Make sense?

The Adwords tool shows the estimated SEARCH network CPC. If a visitor to your website clicks on an ad at your site it's the content network unless you have a Google searchbox on your site and they search AND click on a link on the SERPs.

The search network pays a 50% commission, the content network pays 70% but the CPC is significantly lower.
