My Niche Site Experiment

Thanks to the Warriors that gave me good advice in my last post in this forum.

I've read a lot, with still more to read and do, but following what I learned, I registered an [exactdomain].net, made a site using free hosting, wordpress and wrote 2 original, quality articles and did OP SEO. I did this on Monday night.

I have done no/nothing/nada/zero for backlinking. I was at 174 when I was indexed. Somehow Google indexed me in the time between posting the first article and writing the second. I had done the SEO before I was indexed, so that may have helped. The cache just shows the first article at the moment. I don't rightly know how much I can do to a brand new domain, so I'll take it slow for a few weeks.

Today I the cache still shows the same and I am at 70th for the keyword. 2 days in. Broad match gives 2,000,000 results, exact gives 16,300 and averages 4,400 searches a month. The movement is likely moderate competition and the domain name.

I'm treating this seriously but also a 'hands on' learning experiment. I noted that the .com for my domain is offered for $2000 and is a parked page. My thought is that I'll keep writing some more good articles, I'm a better than average article writer, if not long winded.

I haven't applied for an Adsense account yet as the domain is not yet 2 days old. I know I can sign up and use a work domain 10+, 8+ years old and be approved, but I don't want to be attached to a work domain, though the site will easily get me an Adsense account.

After more content, I'll build a few backlinks and see where I get in a few weeks, when I hope to have Adsense sorted out. I don't think that I'll have to do a lot to get in the top of page 1, but the top page is quite entrenched.

We'll see. So you all know, I have very modest expectations for this and it may well work, but I'll call it an experiment since I am very new to Adsense marketing and micro niches.

I'll take advice, I'm reading Xfactor as was suggested, but I'll likely ask some questions of you all.

You doing great mate! Keep up the good work. I'm sure one you will be #1, it takes some time and patients. Keep writing those articles and do some backlinks.

    Good Luck!

    Thanks!

What is odd for me is that I never looked at this before. I can do most everything needed. Maybe I'll do an Amazon Affiliate page.

The funny part is how this is mostly time and skill. In my case, I spent 3 hours total getting set up and paid $8 for the domain and hosting is free. So if the keyword is a dud, then I need only make $8 to breakeven.

I never knew there was free hosting until I read about it! So if I get decent at this and can get a dozen sites generating $3-5 in a year, that could be a nice side income stream. We'll see how I do.

There's a lot of info here on WF and I am not through half of it. I have to get the Adsense figured out, some people have me thinking it might be hard for me to get one with the new domain.

Ya you seem to have it down. You can find all the info you ever need to succeed from this and many other forums. I've only bought 2 WSO's and they were both crap, ever since I just read up on my own and have been doing great.

Also, try applying for adsense with another site you own already.

Unless Adsense tightened up its rules regarding approval, I don't see why you can't apply now. I applied for Adsense soon after I published a very thin site. No more than a couple of paragraphs. I may have had like 5 pages. But it was like one or two paragraphs per page. Not much written.

But just apply when you feel ready.

Thanks Jacked. It doesn't feel like I've done enough work, so that's my hesitation from this being new. The backlinks you did for a site I worked on are working nicely, BTW.

I agree, when you have a certain level of understanding, you can do a lot of this on your own with the help of the collective WarriorBrain™.

A site that I admin is under my control and I can do what I want so I can sign up under that, I guess if for some reason I don't get it under the new one. Do you know if the site your signed up under can eventually be changed?

    DynoMutt,

The site I made is only 2 pages and 2 articles, so thinner than yours. I'll add more content and then apply. I don't get any traffic yet, so I'm not missing anything yet. If I keep moving up this fast (Thanks Wordpress!) I'll have to get ads on sooner than later.

I am glad our backlink service worked out for you. Also, I am not sure what you mean by changing the site you signed up with. Once you are accepted into the program, you can put adsense ads on all your sites.

    Yeah, your backlinks did nicely.

    Ah. That wasn't clear.

I have full access to a few websites that I administrate and I can use them as the site for Adsense. They will pass without questions. (All email come to me and I could explain what I was doing, but they wouldn't understand anyway.) So I wondered if I signed up under one of these domains for Adsense, can I later edit the account so that domain is no longer attached?

I've been writing relevant articles, so I'll give it a try under the new site as see what happens.

I set up Adsense over a year ago with a brand new website and received no problems getting my account accepted. Just a note

      Thanks!

I'm ranked in the low 60's today and I've made 2 links today. I'll apply for it in this week. Probably worrying about it more than I should.

Xfactor sites are history. The new Google Panda and all the other things that are happening with Google will destroy your rankings with all these mini niche sites.

Could be. It's 4 days old tonight and it's gone up every day. In any case, it's an experiment.

I write actual articles on topic and relevant. No one would look at it as 'spammy' but we'll just see what happens. A lot of people guess on this forum, but this will be data for me.

    Update:

I hit 30th place today for my main keyword. I have my Adwords account that took all of 30 minutes to get approved and I'll be adding that tomorrow.

Every few days I add a new article and next I'll add some backlinks. I am also thinking to be an Amazon Affiliate as well. It can't hurt and from what I read, it's good to have more than 1 advertiser on the page.
