What Is Going On With My Main Keywords?

It is renewal time for many of my sites, but when I try to evaluate each one I am noticing the main Kws search account at Google KW tool "exact" decreased like crazy!

My KWs dropped from 2400 monthly searches to something like 720 as an example.

What is going on with my keywords?

Do I have to dump those sites with weak main KWs?

Why dump them, if they're ranking well just hold on to them. What is it $10 bucks a year.

I think its normal for searches to change, especially if you have seasonal kw's such as losing weight. Losing weight would get more searches around the summer time and at the end of the year due to people having "New Year resolutions" to lose weight.

So get to work, get them ranking better. The interwebs is a finicky place. Things are very fluid and always changing. You got to keep up, friend!

      Can anybody translate this please?
"The interwebs is a finicky place"

Is the renewal of a site which main KW has nowadays 800 Global Monthly Searches at an estimated $0.80 CPC valuable and doing like crap?

      Thank You

What you're seeing is an estimated number of how many people that searched for that keyword during the year before. Maybe people just stopped searching for whatever it is that you're offering.

If it is "renewal time" for may of your sites then I am assuming you have the sites for close to a year. I think that is enough time to evaluate the profitability of the site(s). Calculate how much you have invested in the site and your returns and I think you will have your answer on whether or not to dump the sites.

But, if it is already ranking well, I wouldn't dump the site. I will contemplate keeping it or selling it on flippa!

I just went through a cycle of asset consolidation

    This is what I do.

I went through all the virtual assets that I have and choose what to do with each of them.

I classified them into lemon, sell or keep

Lemon is one that does not rank even I have done all the work, it is time to cut loss

Sell - some of sites that I have but I lost interest in them and decide to sell them off

Keep - site that is making money and want to grow them a little more before I decide to sell or keep

    I hope this help

That is why taking "search volume trend" into consideration at the beginning (point of research into keywords) is critical.

That shows that searching trends are changing from year to year.

      Wow!

Thanks for using this thread as inspiration, but has this problem ever happened to all of you or it's just me-- the radical change in the amount of searches for main KW used for intitle/inurl/H1, etc, during last year?

      Maybe Google changes?
