Hi guys,

I need help from an adwords PPC guru...

I am using Adwords editor to upload my campaigns data in bulk.
If I want to specify the match type - Broad Match Modifier - how do I do that and then do the bulk upload?

do I just specify broad match modifier? or do I have to put a '+' sign in front of the keyword? I know when i specify broad, phrase or exact, all I need to do is put those words in the tab delimited export data - i don't need to decorate the keywords in any way.

Please help...

Angy

You simply put a + in front of the words you want modified. It will show as a broad match in AE's drop-down but it's OK. When uploading, the system will see it properly as a BMM keyword.

You can also try different combinations of plus signs, such as:

    +german +shepherd +training school
    +german +shepherd training school

It's definitely worth testing - I did some analysis on my Calculate Marketing blog and found that modified broad match can significantly increase CTRs and reduce CPCs compared to non-modified broad match keywords.

Modified broad match is still a relatively new feature so there are no doubt advantages for advertisers who adopt it early.
