Is Adsense honestly lucrative?

Hi Warriors

I've never tried Adsense before nor read any guides on how to do it etc.

Before I go down the road of learning how to do it properly and seeing if I can make a go of it I am wondering how lucrative Adsense actually is in reality?

I am good with SEO and I have no trouble ranking sites with decent competition that also get decent search volumes (eg. 20 000 - 100 000 searches per month according to Google Keyword tool - however these numbers are often not accurate)

I tend to rank multiple sites around 10-15 pages in size and they maintain their rankings despite the fact that I don't really add any new content - I tend to focus just on the backlinking after I develop the site.

I have so far created and ranked affliate sites but the sales tend to be sporadic despite holding rankings in the Top 3 of the organic Google SERPS and I am wondering whether creating lots of niche Adsense sites would be more consistent for income.

However I hear people talking of Adsense incomes like $100 in 6 months! That's not really what I call making good money.

I am wondering how difficult it is to make say an average of $3 a day per 10-15 page site from Adsense if I can rank a site via the organic Google search results in the Top 3 results within 3-4 months of creating that site?

My thoughts are that if I can make say around $3 per day per site that I can upscale this and create many Adsense oriented mini sites but I also don't want to put in all the work for that if $3 per day is not a realistic goal for an Adsense site. Obviously if I am making multiple Adsense mini sites I am not going to have time to keep going back to them and writing heaps of new content each month - I'm not sure whether adding new content is essential to making money with Adsense or not?

Can anyone let me know from their real world experience what I can expect income wise from an Adsense site like what I have described?

    No simple answer.
The details depend on the keywords and other factors.

Some people still make great money from Adsense, and it was better (pre-2008) before the Great Recession.

With adsense you have to target expensive keywords to make any big bucks really otherwise you are better off with an affiliate programme

I've seen keywords where the CPC is over $2 that I could easily rank for, however I hear that $2 isn't actually what Google will pay you - it's just a guide.

Is targeting keywords with a CPC over $2 a good place to start or are you talking about targeting really high competition keywords with a CPC of $10 or something?

I look at AdSense this way. You are unlikely to make a fortune, but you can make some extra spending money with very little effort.

This has been in the back of my head for some time now. I'm still not sure whether it's worth it to invest the time needed to learn how to implement adsense.

Maybe when my bread and butter business is getting more traffic, I'll reevaluate.

Adsense is lucrative in case of a website having unique content, good traffic and higher page rank. But at first you have to acquire as those qualities of your website.

The bold part is nonsense. Page rank does not factor in anywhere.

Be #1 in the serps and you get traffic, regardless of PR.

It is lucrative no doubt but at the same time it is very difficult to safeguard the account without getting terminated. We do not seem to have control over improper clicking of ads.

If you don't have a good site, good content and good traffic - what's the point in being online in the first place? Adsense is just another way to monetize sites.

Yes, adsense can be quite profitable. It's not fast money, you can't manipulate it as some want to do, the "high money clicks" are usually fiction posted by people who don't earn with adsense.

Being an AdSense "publisher" can be very profitable. One of the major advantages is that you don't need to understand very much about "marketing".
Meaning that for a lot of people, being a publisher is much easier than being a marketer … and they can turn a profit much faster.

i started adsense since February and march I make $200 and currently April is $350... It takes alot of traffic in order to get clicks and you have to check if there are multiple advertisers competing for the keywords in order to get a good cpc.

First, there is no keyword tool in the whole world than can
give us exact searches. This is only a harsh estimation of
how many searches a particular keyword gets, broken down
to a monthly average. IT IS AN ESTIMATION - NOT EXACTY.

Earning money with Adsense is a ****ing slow process to be
honest. Its profitable for the long run and not for the first few weeks
and months, but it should monetize after a decent long term
    period.

    Lucrative? Yes
    Easy? Sort of
Is it worth it? Not really in my opinion.

Adsense is thrown on my sites just to test to see if I make more money instead of CPA or Clickbank offers. Usually I don't. But I know people that have networks of Adsense targeted sites that are making well over $3,000 a month but they have over 100 sites!

    Marshie,

You're asking the right questions...these are what I wanted to know before getting started as well. It's a little frightening reading about people that have been at it for 12 months and are making less than $1,000/month!

Here are some rules of thumb that we've found...may or may not apply to you:

    - Expect around 50% of cpc on BEST clicks, based on Google Keyword Tool
    - $3/day on average per site with 5-10 pages of content is not our average. Shoot for $1 starting off and be happy with $0.50
    - Without access to cheap labor and content, I wouldn't bother.
    - Build a machine...it gets messy if you're not REALLY organized.

    Hope that helps!

It is slow in the beginning, but once you have a few sites starting to rank and know how to target Adsense terms it is great for passive income. Just focus on the search quantity and CPC of your terms.

Its nonsense to make a common assumption like "Adsense is the best way to earn online".

Because it works in some niches and in some other niches it doesn't. I had sites where people literally dont buy squat from affiliate offers but are clicking ads...while i have other sites where its better to use affiliate offers instead of AdSense.

Nothing is "better", its a matter of trying what works best.

It usually needs time, but be patient and don't be discouraged. With better rankings and valuable, useful content, earnings can - and in my case, do - improve. Things have gotten better after I started improving my content. Whether that means outsourcing quality writing or doing research and writing yourself, if you can write well - it makes a difference to provide something useful to your visitors...in my experience.

    Peace

You can make money with adsense.

If you want to make $5000 dollars/month
    you need to make $167/day.
If we say you get a clickprice of $0,4 average, and a ctr of 6% ( you can easy do that)

You need 417 click/day and with a ctr of 6% you need 7000 pageviews a day.

Lets say every visitor you get to your site make 1,6 pageview. I will be 4400 visitors/day you need to get.

To get that many visitor you need to rank number one for 30 keywords that has average 10.000 searches/month.

lets say every article need 400 backlinks from different articles databases. to rank one. You need 12000 backlinks articles. If you buy them a 1,5$ each you need $18000 to do that, but you will earn $60.000/year from there.

    Good luck

That is such an apple to oranges question. It is if you have high traffic on high paying Adsense keywords and it isn't if you have either low traffic or low paying keywords. It is all completely relative.

?? Your buying traffic from Adwords and sending them to your website where your monetizing that traffic using Adsense!

Thats known as arbitrage, and it worked years ago but doesn't work anymore and I believe is also against Googles TOS.

It can work if your buying traffic from a third tier traffic network due to the lower prices but buying adwords traffic to earn adsense money is financial suicide.

I had just a trickle of dollars in my account, you really do need tens of thousands of visitors spread over a number of blogs and websites to make a sizable income. Why make Google rich? Get the traffic to your email list and build your own business rather than go for adsense profits.

I find Adsense is a very good moneymaker. There are certain click happy niches where you can get 60% plus ctr. Even if some of those are 10 cent clicks, if you get enough they can add up. My best performing site did about
$1000 in a month, but I sold that site and now my best site is right around $100.

Ive made .47 cents so far and didn't even do anything or know what I was doing. lol.

so, my question is this..HOW do I choose the keywords? meaning where do I put that in? I created a "channel" called "trump. My site is Run Trump Run! Please DO NOT click on any of my links, it messes up ratios. I just want someone to look at my site and tell me what im doing wrong. guess I have to pay an expert for that. But I think I have it set up right in that its pulling in anything that has to do with Donald Trump.

Problem is that some give up on it before it gets lucrative (now that's 3 times i said lucrative in this post, oh 4 now).

It seems to me that in order to make decent bank with adsense, there are two ways to go about it.

One: create a small amount of large authority sites with a large amount of pages and content that will eventually rank for varying keywords (usually higher competition but worth pursuing) that collectively will have a large monthly search volume.

Two: create alot of sites - 50, 100 or more- casting a wide net where each site might make a small amount each per day but at the end of the day can add up to a decent amount. These sites will most likely be smaller and very laser targeted and will normally feature less competitive Keywords to target.

Personally, I am pursuing option 2 as I like the idea of casting a wide net, knowing full well that not every site will be a winner, but having a larger network of sites it seems, will give me the best chance of finding the winners.
