Too many navigational links?

Hello

On one of my sites I have included a duplicate set of navigational links in the footer, I have been told that Google does not like this sort of thing and will consider it as link spamming.

Oddly, I have another site which has been in the top 3 on Google for several years and this site also has a duplicate set of navigational links. I don't want to change anything on this site as I seem to have got it right, but tell me what you think please.

Hi edenworkshops,

No, that is wrong advice. Navigation links are internal links. Nothing wrong with having navigational links in your page footers. I believe this is not only in line with Google's Webmaster Guidelines, it is generally considered a Best Practice.

Now if those links are to external websites, not internal navigation links, then it could very well be problematic if Google perceives them as paid links for the purpose of passing PageRank.
