The link will be counted of course! It will give you a lot of link Juice if you are an active warrior and have link in your signature, you will have 100's of links from warrior forum to your website and best part is that Backlink Tracker tool index them so you can see the number increasing rapidly!

I had over 100 links from warrior to my totally unrelated Niche website! Links from High PR forums count however they may come.

    I hope this helps!

    Regards,
    Shiva!

    Hi crismanaon,

When you say "unrelated signature" it could imply one of two things. If by unrelated you mean unrelated to the topic of a forum you need to learn how search engines work. Search engines do not index websites, they index individual web pages. So website topics do not play a role in SEO.

While "website topics" are irrelevant to SEO, web page topics are. When you add a keyword signature link to a web page you are influencing the topic of that page by the inclusion of your anchor text.

However, if by your question you meant signature link anchor text unrelated to the keyword you are trying to rank your landing page for, then you should know that it has no direct influence in ranking for irrelevant keywords. Though it will still pass link juice which can be channeled through a relevant anchor text link to help another page rank well for that targeted keyword.

You risk looking weird by incorporating a link that has nothing to do with the forum topic. However, as far as SEO goes, every backlink counts.

        Hi Vogin,

Yes, "every backlink counts", provided it is on a page that has been indexed and not completely devalued by search engines (i.e. TruskRank = 0) and that it hasn't been assigned the nofollow attribute. Naturally, in those cases they do not count for SEO.

And then there is the issue of how much they count, some count very little while others count a great deal.

So, perhaps it is a bit of a stretch to say all backlinks count, wouldn't you agree?

A backlink is a backlink, and it won't be counted against you. However, it will be less effective than a backlink of that type in a relevant forum because:

    1. You won't get residual traffic for it - the posters in the forum won't be interested in the site, so they won't click it.
    2. SEO-wise, Google likes to look for context-relevant links, so the link will count less. But it will still count.

      Hi mandark,

I partial agree, however search engines do not look at forum topic, only page topic is considered, and if your keyword is included in your anchor text then you have influenced the page topic with that keyword.

Not unless you have a very low competition keyword which from which your competitors have very very poor links or next to no links. But in general no, forum links and sig links are of very little to no value when it comes to ranking. Yes some niche forums with very detailed information and no spam posts (like the pointless one liners we get here) may offer a little value to some links if they are highly relevant.

If you put signatures in forums in unrelated sites. Then, this is a type of spamming. This kind of link building activity sticks out like a sore thumb in a backlink profile.
