Pingler.com and the O-pack Google Places ranking

Hi everyone,
I was wondering if the O-pack Google algo now discounts or penalizes Pingler backlinks.
Before the O-pack came along, my client's Places listing was no. 1 for his main keyword (thanks to Pingler). Now with the O-pack in place, he is no. 2. I wouldn't want to do anything that would jeopardize his listing.
I haven't used the automatic-every-three-days ping from Pingler in many, many months.
What are your thoughts?
