I am sure this poll has been posted many times on here before, but I am looking for something post-Panda?Farmer update.

What is your opinion? If you have a site that you have split tested with these two different styles of monetization, which of the two have you found to be better???

Amazon or Adsense???

Why?

I'm not sure how much stock you can put in the split test of one site.

From personal experience I find some sites are better with Adsense and some are better with Amazon.

It has more to do with the relationship between the search terms and the products.

So if the search terms are exactly the products then Amazon is best
If the search terms are NOT closely related to the product then Adsense is best (and actually no product of course).

And conversion rates will vary directly related to how closely the search term equals the product

      Excellent point...

The only bad thing about Amazon that not only do they have to click on your link, they then have to purchase the product in 24 hours and if you are targeting cheap products, say less than 50 bucks, then you need both a click and a purchase to earn the same as with an Adsense click.

I've always been a big fan of adsense and have yet to try Amazon. Keen to see some of the replies to this thread...

I would use Amazon if you do product reviews and adsense for general blogs etc.

However, if you have a review site and can get really targeted ads with a decent cpc (lucky) then stick with adsense.

      Hope this helps

adsense is easier to start out with but it is better not to only use adsense just in case 1 day you got your account banned at least have some backup plans

You know it is a funny thing, I once read an awesome thread on here where an Internet Marketer set up a drove of Adsense blogs and was making good money with them.

When he was questioned about the risks of getting his account banned, he quickly pointed out that he intentionally chose niches and products that he could re-monitize with Amazon if that happened.

I remember thinking how brilliant that was...

hmm, I'm a newbie here, I try to do a few blogs for adsense, I want to try my luck, I will take articles here on this forum, there are many highly skilled writers, host and domain from GoDaddy and Hostgator and I'll try to see if I could make a profit. I chose adsense because it is easier to use and the investment is lower. Amazon is a long term investment. If I will succeed with adsense mini campaign will try to do even more sites.Additionally I will not hesitate to try amazon. Is much better to try them because there is always a risk to adsense that you have your account banned.
Eventually if you do everything right both ways produce the money, as I read on this forum.
    Thanks

From the choices I have gone with Adsense only because I have replaced all my Amazon sites with Prosperent dot com products. Payout is much greater and longer cookie.

I use both on my blogs. Amazon is a quicker payout if you have the right products, like new releases. I've made good money with that. Adsense is great with the right niches, but they have to be topics that people will look for related info on. That's why I use both.

Use both - Amazon has a great conversion rate (better than any other program I use aside from in the adult niche). Just remember to ensure you are working within their rules such as having privacy pages etc. The cookie only lasts for 24 hours too.

You don't use both together, right? I believe that is against Adsense TOS.

So far, the poll looks close to split down the center. This may turn out to be an apples to oranges poll.

It depends on the site. Some sites do well with Amazon while others do well with Adsense. For me i would say Amazon is better.

So far, I have had more success with Adsense. Maybe that is because I am new at this.

  • I think it really depends on your website, some websites convert better with adsense and some with Amazon links, I think to get the best out of the site it is to use both adsense and amazon links

It all depends on the website and what traffic is coming. For example if you write reviews for the Amazon products then obviously Amazon will be better than adsense.
