Does The Google Keyword Tool "Trick" You Too? - And Why?

Hey Warriors,

The Google Keyword tool is drivin me a little bonkers.

Let me explain (and maybe this happens to you too.)

I go into my keywords tool within Google AdWords.

And I find some really cool "cheap" keywords with a ton of searches.

It says the average CPC is like .25-.30 cents.

Then I put it in my AdGroup... and Poof! It tells me I'm bidding too low and
I need to pay $4.00 instead of .26 cents. (And it does not say I have a
low quality score.)

I've attached a screenshot of the discrepancy between estimated CPC and
what my AdGroup is telling me.

Any help/insight would be greatly appreciated.

BTW these keywords were generated by the Google Keyword tool by using the
"suggest" feature where it spiders your site and finds relevant keywords. (so I
think these keywords are relevant in Google's eyes.)

Thanks, and happy Tuesday!
-Sean

  • google keyword tool says 1.75 average cpc for how to lose weight

your screenshot also doesn't show your quality score,

    from the keyword view
    -click the show/hide columns
    -click on Show Quality Score

      Ahhh! Pajamma mamma!

      Good call!

I had no idea you could get that view. Thank you!

And yep... says that it's "poor" quality score.

Hmmm, now how to raise it up?

Insert the keyword into the page?

      Thanks again, that really helped!

        cool

if you run a report and download to csv you can actually see the number of your quality score like pagerank 0-10

to raise it up i would check out this post for starters:

That article is bang on.... I would add a couple of other things. Get video on YouTube that is tagged appropriately. Embedded it in the page. Actually use Youtubes emebdding code. To stop this becomming an exit point, make sure your video has an extremely long outro with a strong / compellling call to action. Get the URLs in your autoresponders code hidden with java script. Use CSS to get the URLs to your priviacy policy links as high up in the code of your page as possible. For bonus points make the display and destination urls the same and a simple www.domain.com/keyword - Oh, and make sure you use your keywords in i your ads copy.
