how important is buying backlink packets from the WF to your overall backlinking strategy?

It's not really buying them, it's what you do with them. A lot of people buy packets but never build them out.

buy the link information and then do link your site for backlinks...

Let me clarify, a lot of people buy these packets, but people are lazy and don't actually build the links themselves.

Its better to buy services then to make links yourself and waste your time, you can never make as many links as you can get from service providers! you need these services to move up faster.
