SEO DoFollow Blog Question, Newbie here :)

I'm still very new to this site and I've been learning a little about SEO and Internet Marketing, yet I've come into a little road block in regards to my first practice money making endeavor. It's very niche, and it's a niche that's growing into more competition every month as there is money to be made in the niche, however, there are seemingly *no* dofollow backlinks blogs for that niche at all.

There are forums, there are even a social media community or two, lots of top lists and other ways to build links to get traffic, but as far as raising page rank it's seems almost impossible. I'm a rebel and I don't want to do what everyone else in the niche is doing, so I started by providing valuable content (with more coming), writing an article in an article directory, and joining the most valuable niche communities. But now I want to put my competition into the dust by raising my page rank with commenting on dofollow blogs -- slowly, with care and respectfully.

So here are my questions:

-What to do if there are no dofollow blogs in your niche?
- Will it do me good to comment on dofollow blogs that are in topics of my interests, even if they are NOT in my niche?
- Would it be a good idea or a bad idea to make my blog and site dofollow and market it as the ONLY dofollow blog in my niche to those others whom I find worthy within my niche?
-will it hurt to have my blog be dofollow if I'm getting both inbound links and outbound links? (keeping it balanced)
-The niche is mature and can be considered adult, but it's not directly triple X rated, can I still get back links from .gov and .edu sites or is it much harder?

Sorry for the questions...but I've spent about 5 hours doing very careful online submissions of comments and I'm very thorough. I'm having fun with it too, but I'm worried that I'm doing it all wrong.

Any hints for this newbie would be appreciated....

Seems like your thinking too hard.

First off dont worry about dofollow.

Now if you just want to do blog commenting then go do your commenting on related sites that offer a link. Dont worry if its dofollow or not. Just leave a good comment that fits in with the topic.

There are 2 ways to get dofollow links from blogs :

      1. Find blogs in your nice that take guest posts, post to that blog with a link in the content back to your site. Those links are "generally" all DOFOLLOW

      2. Make a blog comment, and include a link in your blog comment back to your site. But do it slightly different so that you can get the comment approved. I would suggest doing the following :

Write a post on your own blog about a topic the other blogger is commenting on. Make it newsworth (maybe even slightly controversial) and then in the blog comment write something like :

"I made a blog post about this topic the other day, and I have to completely disagree with the author becuase my experience hasd the been the complete opposite. See the post here"

Most blog authors will approve the comment and you now have a DOFOLLOW comment back to your site.

      Hope this helps

Here are my answers based on my experience:

-What to do if there are no dofollow blogs in your niche?
Firstly, there are dofollow blogs in almost every niche, but if you can't find any, either comment on nofollow blogs in your niche, comment on blogs outside your niche, or focus more on forum backlinks.

    - Will it do me good to comment on dofollow blogs that are in topics of my interests, even if they are NOT in my niche?
A backlink is a backlink. Supposedly context-relevant backlinks are better, but you won't be penalized for this. If you are interested in a topic and can provide a useful and relevant comment, go for it.

    - Would it be a good idea or a bad idea to make my blog and site dofollow and market it as the ONLY dofollow blog in my niche to those others whom I find worthy within my niche?
I'd go for dofollow - support the dofollow movement. Only go nofollow if you can't handle the spam.

-will it hurt to have my blog be dofollow if I'm getting both inbound links and outbound links? (keeping it balanced)
Nope - number of outgoing links, as long as they aren't to "bad neighborhood" type sites, shouldn't affect you negatively.

-The niche is mature and can be considered adult, but it's not directly triple X rated, can I still get back links from .gov and .edu sites or is it much harder?
It is a little harder, but many edu/gov backlinks you get will be from profile links, so they won't be checked anyway. But if they are manually approved links, yes, it is more likely that your link will get removed because someone found it offensive.

-What to do if there are no dofollow blogs in your niche?

Only use them for traffic, don't waste your time if you are trying to rank in Google. They will help with Yahoo and Bing.

    - Will it do me good to comment on dofollow blogs that are in topics of my interests, even if they are NOT in my niche?

Yes, it will still pass PR to your website and help your rankings. The more closely related, the better.

    - Would it be a good idea or a bad idea to make my blog and site dofollow and market it as the ONLY dofollow blog in my niche to those others whom I find worthy within my niche?

Only if you want interaction, just make sure to moderate comments.

-will it hurt to have my blog be dofollow if I'm getting both inbound links and outbound links? (keeping it balanced)

No, just monitor to what you are linking to. You will lose some PR, but it is no way a big deal.

-The niche is mature and can be considered adult, but it's not directly triple X rated, can I still get back links from .gov and .edu sites or is it much harder?

You still can because many are unmoderated, just don't be stupid.

Thank you so much Mandark and Initial Effort; your answers to my questions were extremely helpful. . I didn't think of posting on NoFollow blogs in my niche, but since it's been mentioned a few times I will incorporate it more into my plans for more focused traffic, and use the dofollow links I get for PR purposes.

I know my situation is a little unusual in that -all- of my niches and projects I get involved in are more long term and directly tied to my interests. This allows me to not only take enough time to learn and practice stuff on the sites, but also put whatever work is required of me into it. I love the Warrior Forum a WHOLE lot so far and cannot wait to learn more as time goes on; I'll try to post an introduction in a little bit....

don't obsess over do/no follow...just build links with a focus on dofollow. nofollows are ok to have to. They DO get crawled by google, they just don't get counted in terms of link juice transfer. They should be called "nojuice" instead of nofollow. I would keep the links going out from your site, nofollow to preserve your onpage PR

Whenever you are posting comments on blogs or forums with the backlinks to your
site, always choose the websites having good repute and high GPR. Always avoid spam
websites and link forms etc to avoid penalties from google. Get the backlinks from
different sources and not more than 5 per day.
