Using Yahoo I see 84 links, though Google webmasters shows zero...

Any ideas?

Webmaster central is always late in update and it sucks... Not reliable... just use other linkback checking tools..

Guys, don't expect to show you all backlinks - this is exactly what they do not want you do know.

      Why? YouTube - onewaylinks's Channel

Good video freetraff, google only shows 10 backlinks to my blog but I can see lots and lots of backlinks picked up by google from the google webmaster tool.

But still 10 backlinks compare to 3,511 of backlinks shown at the google webmaster tool, perhaps Arine Mark is right, google shows only high quality backlinks.

          Hi Coz,

The data in Webmaster Tools is delayed by a week or two. If your backlinks are new then they may not yet be showing in WT, but will shortly.

If, however these links have existed for more than a few weeks then you should check to make sure the pages these backlinks link to on your site are indexed. If they are indexed, check to see if the pages that link to your website are indexed. Chance are, it's one of these issues.

Definitely there is a possibility for Arine Mark's point of view to be correct. Most likely it is.

But in any case it proves that Google does not want us to see everything in terms of real number of backlinks we have.

            Hi freetraff,

I have to disagree with your conclusion.

Google definitely does show you all of your backlinks provided you verify you are the site owner through Webmaster Tools. To Google's credit, they do not show all your backlinks to the rest of the world.

It seems Google is looking out for your privacy, but this doesn't prevent Yahoo from exposing all your backlinks to your competitors.

You can choose to look at this as negative if you wish, I just don't see it that way.

I've been noticing this for some time. There are two possibilities.

    1) The links that do not show up in Google "count" toward your ranking in Google's SERP's.

    2) The links that do not show up don't count.

So, do you figure out how to rank your page higher by looking at both Yahoo's and Google's link count? Somehow using the two together?

I've not been able to do that successfully.

The only thing that's worked for me is to create more backlinks, then check my page's rank in a few days and see what that bought me. In other words, trial and error.

If anyone knows a truly better way to do this, I would love to know it.
