Charged for 60 Clicks - But Only 30 Actual Visits

?

I'm still learning the ropes about adwords.

I'm running a campaign for a niche site outside of IM. Unfortunately I've had 0 sales so far.

I've now had 60 clicks (and paying a good chunk of change for these first inital clicks), but when I logged into my Google Analytics account this morning, it shows that I've had only 30 visitors from Google.

So... whats up with this? Are some of these clicks "fake"?

Any insight into this would be helpful. Thanks!

have you tried the ? technique to lower your cost per click?

basically after the domain name you put ? then related key words

    ie. massage-guru.com?how-to-massage

apparently it should lower your cost per click because google's algorithm looks at that and thinks its more relevant so they will lower your cost per click for relevancy .

yet to test it yet so let me know

      Hi Steve,

The concept of PPC advertising can deceptively simply compared to the complexities of the strategies and tactics that can be employed.

One of the most fundamental requirements for success is accurate tracking. You need to make accurate tracking a priority before continuing.

Here are a few things that may be causing the disparate results:
      • The time-of-day for cutoff of tracked clicks vs. visits could be different.
      • Your Analytics code may not be installed on every page
      • You may have received multiple clicks from a single visitor
      • You may have duplicated keywords in seperate ad groups or campaigns which encourage multiple clicks.
      • Visitors hitting the back button before page completely loads due to slow loading landing page.
      Hope that helps,

        Thanks for the info Don

It must be the same users clicking the link more than once.

My site is simply one page with an order button and each campaign has an "exact match" keyword so there is no mixing of keywords

        Thanks again

I think Steve may be right. User could click link twice or more for many reasons, the site is temporarily too busy, his/her pc is loading too slow so go back and click again...

One more thing, related to tracking, you may also put your web site up time in your tracking list. If your site is down for some reason, you may still pay G (?) , and you may end up with no sales.

Keep in mind, your site may temporarily down in a co-hosting environment. It's not rarae that site may go down depending on your host company. Any way, you need a way to track your web sites uptime using an automatic scripts say, checking web site if up every 5 minutes.

          Good luck.

          Thanks, Yaji
