Hi, I hope you all are having a good day. I was using Google keyword tool and when I tried to get results back. I was sent to a page saying that excess usage was detected from my IP address that I should try later. Well it has been three days and I still can't get any results I get the same message.

Is any one familiar with this practice? Can you tell me something about it or how to resolve it so I can get back to work?

are you running something like SEOquake because that will upset Google. They do not like being polled.

If you are blocked you need to reset your IP. Many ISP's will rotate them so the problem may go away.

Try using a proxy browser in the meantime:

    Hey Tony,

Why not set up an adwords account and then you can use the tool as often as you like within the account?

I've never been banned from Keyword tool for that long. I'd just let it chill for another couple days, and then maybe contact Google or change your IP (either through your ISP or via proxy) to use it again.

Well sometimes that might happen in using google keyword tool. You still may use proxies to use the site again.Another thing yo can do like by deleting the cookies or history from you browser option and then try to access the site again.

If you uses Google Keyword External Tool in two tabs it can occur. Sometimes I need to fill a captcha for a simply search in google but I don't use any SEO software.
Just don't act like a robot (Searching and downloading 10 "CSVs" per second and google will "desban" you.

OP, trust me on this. All you need is CCleaner, make sure to run CCleaner multiple times until the software shows an empty folder in your cache, etc...

Run the default settings for CCleaner, you don't need a proxy, Google has put a cookie on your computer.

I had this happen a few days ago...lasted for like 2 days which was weird...normally just a few hours or up to a day.

If you're using a proxy, make sure you don't sign into your google account...use another. I tried the same google account and was still blocked but was fine when I switched. They weren't blocking me through IP...they were blocking me through my google account.

    Hope that helps.

technically, HMA is not a proxy per se. It is a VPN. The difference is a VPN changes your IP address by literally connecting you to another network. At that point, ALL traffic goes over the VPN, regardless of port or protocol. Proxies typically just work for web traffic (which is usually what we want anyway). VPN is much easier for new people than proxies as it does not require you to modify proxy settings in ANY of your software.

HMA does work similarly to a proxy in that it Hides your real IP address and lets you change it on the fly by right clicking the icon in the system tray.

      cheers.

I am having the same problem it seems. I did some extensive research with Market Samurai on Sunday. I was using the new keyword search feature where you have to use an Adwords account to get a full list of relevant keywords. At first it was fine, then it started prompting me for the captcha, then near the end of the day it just stopped returning results. When I logged directly into my Adwords account and attempted a keyword tool search, I received the:

"Our systems have detected unusual traffic from your computer network. Please try your request again later. Why did this happen?"

(It also has my IP address and time stamp)

I can use the keyword tool without logging into Adwords, but as soon as I login and try to run a search, I get this message. I've tried multiple locations but it is connected to my Adwords account and not a specific computer. It's been 2 1/2 days. I have read different accounts as to how long the suspension lasts. Some say a couple hours, some say 24 hours or 48 hours, but I'm past all those times and it still doesn't work.

I was using the proxies setting in MS, so that's not the issue. Based on the fact that I was eventually banned, I think that despite the requests coming from different locations through the proxies, it all is filtering through your one Adwords account and eventually, they catch on and lock you out.

I though maybe I was banned but I can still login to the Adwords account and I have not received any notices within the account or any emails to the linked gmail account.

I tried releasing the IP, clearing the cache, using different computers, requesting a review of my IP from Google (good luck!), I uninstalled SEO Quake, uninstalled Firebug, tried disabling active monitoring from my antivirus, ran McAfee scan, Hijack This scan, TrendMicro Housecall scan, and Malwarebytes scan. Also, yesterday I put in a ticket with Market Samurai, but with all there problems lately, they have a 72+ hour turnaround on tickets. I'm not holding my breath.

Meanwhile, I was approved for an Adsense account, so I must not be in that much trouble (However, it was under a different email address, but I used the same name and address info as my Adwords account.)

I am seriously out of ideas. This definitely concerns me as I am focusing a lot of effort into creating quality niche websites to run Adsense. Has anybody else had this happen? What was the outcome? Do we know how long the typical overuse suspension is? (Probably not, but...) Is there perhaps another cause for this unusual traffic other than my extensive use of Market Samurai?

Thanks and good luck. Hopefully we can figure this out.

    Update:
I just checked mine adwords account and the keyword tool is working now. Yeah! I haven't checked MS yet, but if the Adwords search is working, then it probably is too. Thank you to those of you who responded.

InternetMarketingIQ - for my case, it was directly related to the Adwords account. I had no problem using the keyword tool unless I logged into Adwords and tried to use it. I tried different PCs on different IPs. It didn't matter.

Yukon - I don't think this was a cookie issue, however, on your advice I ran CCleaner like 10 times and it didn't do any good. Thanks though.

George R. - I tried reseting the router. No luck. I don't think this was IP or cookie related, despite the message saying that it detected too much traffic from my IP. I got the same message when I tried to login from another location with my Adwords account. Same message, different IP.

So, for others that are having this issue, this is my best guess...

    What caused it:
The likely cause was the fact that I used the Adwords feature to generate search results in Market Samurai. I used it all day long on Sunday. I would filter the results before doing the analysis, but I don't think it mattered because I did so many searches. Also, I did one major search where I dropped a couple thousand keywords in the program and tried to run it.

    Why it came back:
I don't know if there was a particular time limit punishment (65 hours?). Maybe, but...
The likely fix was that I submit my ip address, name, and Adwords email address to the Adwords customer support review team yesterday. When I noticed it was working again just now, I checked my email and less than 2 hours ago I got an email for an "Adwords Help Center Feedback Survey". I don't think that was a coincidence.

    Now what:
I suggest either not using the Adwords feature, or when you do, use it to generate a list, then go back to the keyword generator screen and turn it off. Otherwise, I think it still accesses the keyword tool through your Adwords account when you are analyzing the data, checking the competition, etc. I think it might be good to use the Adwords function sparingly, such as when you need to generate an extensive list of longtail keywords. I found that using the keyword tool through Market Samurai without using the Adwords account still works well (even though it only returns <100 keywords). Also, you need to have proxies turned on, however it won't keep your Adwords account from being blocked if you are going through that in MS. I intend to spread out my research over several days from now on. What a PITA. Good luck everybody.

    Hi,

you might also try this Keyword Tool. It is based on AdWords API and doesn't cause bans or limitations like Google External Keyword Tool. Unfortunately, it requires AdWords API developer token.

    protectmyzen,

Just curious...have you had any problems since? I got suspended again after using MS for a session of intense keyword research. I don't use the adwords account feature in MS...I gather my keywords using different methods and import them to gather volumes and rank. (...but we're talking 20k-30k keywords at a time.)

I may have to tone down the quantity of research...but I can't imagine doing anything less than 5,000 blocks. It will take forever to get through my list of keywords at 500 blocks.

Anyway, I've decided to completely delete my adword account out of MS. I'm not sure if that will help...but it's worth a try. I've tried everything else.

Curious if anyone else is still having problems...
