Simple search for the keyword and find out the exact searches for that keyword.if it is less then competition is less.

If you want to know the competition of the keywords then go to google and search for your post. You will get the number of competitor from there.

If you use a keyword tool like WordTracker it will evaluate the number of searches for a word/phrase and determine how many other sites have that keyword/phrase as the page title, from this it assigns a KEI value. The higher the KEI the easier it is to rank well for that phrase.

You must analyze the top 10 websites on Google for

1. On page SEO factors
2. PR
3. Number of backlinks

Type your keywords you want to research on to Google, see the result, keep trying until you see the number smaller to a few hundreds. That keyword or phrase is less competition.
