Longtail keyword selection / internal linking

I'm trying to rank a niche site for a particular three word keyword. I've created a static homepage that targets my 'primary keyword.' But I'm struggling to settle on what keywords I should be targeting in my posts and where they should be linking to internally.

Here's the setup I have now. Does this sound right?

-Homepage - targets 'primary keyword'
-Category 1 Post 1 - targets 'highly relevant keyword #1,' links to homepage with anchor text as 'primary keyword'
-Category 1 Post 2 - targets 'highly relevant keyword #2,' links to Category Post 1 with anchor text as 'highly relevant keyword #1'
-Category 1 Post 3 - targets 'highly relevant keyword #3,' links to Category Post 2 with anchor text as 'highly relevant keyword #2'
-And so on...

Thanks for your help!

    Hi bmoney1031,

I believe you are over-thinking the idea of internal links. Your internal links should be placed where they make sense to users, not as some sort of linking scheme meant to manipulate PageRank. Simply write posts that focus on a relevant topic and use contextual linking anywhere a keyword is used in the post.

For example, if you have a page about blue widgets and you write a post about green widgets, that happens to mention blue widgets somewhere in that post, then make that keyword a contextual link to the blue widget page.
