I believe it is a matter of preference, as long as you are consistent in using between www.domain.com or http://domain.com - not both.

In some posts or forum that I came across, www.domain.com will not turn to an active link within the post. The http://www.domain.com will almost certainly ensure it to become an active link. So for my backlink submissions I will always use with the http:// in front ......

I don't think so. If your webmaster do the proper redirection of these URLs, then it will surely lead you to one page. I experience having an error page when I typed my website's URL without the triple w. So I asked the webmaster to redirect it to the as http://www...

when you are dealing with the root of the domain it does not matter ( according to current theory ). in the past Google did make a distinguished men between www and not www. but even then there was no perceived difference in Link performance between those 2.

if you're fortunate enough to have control over a root URL outbound link then I would go with www because it is the most common. But there has been no indication over the last five years to conclusively say that either one is superior.

as I mentioned there was a distinction at one time but I believe it was in the Google cache results in that if you typed in www you would see links and results not seen without the www. but that was a Google cache server issue so we could never say if the site was doing better or worse because of that factor.

As of right now... I wouldn't think about it any further than this post

The url is not a problem,But always check your site index in google. If it is indexed as http://domain.com then create backlink for that or create backlink for http://www.domain.com.
If it is new site always use http://www.domain.com.

Better backlinks are backlinks that come from websites with good ranking. But you can still get these kinds of backlinks through several SEO off page methods.

What is your domain name?... hypothetical

However your domain name is formatted, use that link format when you are backlinking

http://www.domain.com That is how my domain name is formatted so I use this format when i back link to any site or blog or profile.
You want to back link directly to your site. Don't get screwy with the site prefixes. It can mess up your link profile.

In my Personal opinion Forum Posting is better resource as compared to blog commenting because blog commenting takes huge time to display comment on blogs

    http://www.domain.com is good for seo

Ignore all the spammy/robot comments in this thread (this forum area seems to be hard hit for some reason)

Neither of those options is better or worse.

If you are using WordPress, then whatever you specify as your site (eg: with or without www) is your preferred URL.

That said, if possible, you should always try to include your anchor text in the link. rather than just the URL.

      I have to agree...WTF?????

Half the comments do not make sense and the other half do not answer the question. I usually attribute that to members who do not speak english as their primary language but not sure anymore.

      To the op

What format you use really does not matter except...

It should match your site structure.

if your site is using www. then so should you for your incoming links.
if your site uses http://yourdomain then so should you for your incoming links

Click the home link on your front page and then look at what is in the address bar and use that.

      You should be consistent.

Pick one way of doing it and then do it that way all the time.

Other than than these two rules it really does matter at all.
