No. 1 in Google US but no boost in traffic? What's the problem...

Hi guys, I would like to hear your opinions if you don't mind.

I noticed a couple of days ago that for the keyword "dog biting", I'm number one in Google US.

That was very good news and I was expecting hundreds of new visitors but the reality is just strange - I haven't noticed any boost in traffic. I'm a little bit confused because this keyword has 22,200 monthly searches and being on number one position, I should get at least a couple of thousand new visitors per month.

I understand that maybe title tags or description are not well optimized and that's why I don't see big boost, but HEY... this is number one spot and not seeing any new visitors doesn't make any sense. As I'm not from US, I can't see if I'm number one or not, but that's what Market Samurai and Rank Tracker says. Are they both lying? I don't think so, because using Firefox + Google Global I can see that number one spot is mine. So, what's the problem here? Have you guys experienced something like this?

Thanks a lot!

How about using an US proxy, to see with your own eyes?

If Dog Training Tips and Techniques for Home Based Dog Obedience Training is yours, then yeah you have #1.

However, you've made a very common mistake. That keyword has 22k BROAD searches per month, but only 590 exact. You need to check exact searches, not broad, if you want accurate results.

I agree that there's only 590 exact searches but what's the point of broad match results then? I have seen many seo courses teaching how to choose keywords according to broad match. Even Market Samurai says that total daily value of traffic should be around $128 and I should get 307 clicks per day. That is totally inaccurate. I'm not a newbie in Seo but this is confusing.

I notice that the keyword you provide has only 590 exact us search per month.

And therefore, 590 is the maximum traffic you'll received from this keyword.
If you would like to know more about board, [exact], "quote", try google it.

ALWAYS check the exact searches - give it a week, and multiply the amount of visitors you get from the term by two, then compare that number. You'll find it's much closer to Exact then Broad.

ya its is true that you need to check exact searches and if after that you dont get traffic then you need to check that you are not login using any idea or remove cookie from your pc to see your current ranking

I think your title having some problem. It is more possible your title is not attractive for the visitor. If you are in the NO. 1 then you can do just two thing.

      1. Update your meta content
      2. Target some other keyword

honestly I don't see the search term being all that interesting and so whatever tool used to measure the monthly search volume doesn't necessarily reflect how many people are going to actually click on it.

Flipping you have to consider is that there are terms that have a high search volume and instantly result in a secondary search as people don't find exactly what they want on their first try.

a lot of people are reading descriptions carefully now before clicking anything and so if the skin the first page and don't see what they want they may instantly execute a secondary search that results in things that we do click on.

what I'm getting at is don't expect monthly search volume to parallel actual click volume
