Hey!

I'm a web developer and recently i had a need for a wp plugin which would help me do on-page SEO. I looked into the products that other people were selling and i was amazed at how expensive they were (considering the effort they had put into developing it). I liked a couple of free plug-ins but i still felt that they could be better. So i started making my own. Most of it is finished but i have 2 questions:

1) Does anyone here feel that something is still missing from these plug-ins? i would love to implement everything people are having trouble with.

2) How would you go about monetizing this product? clickbank?

Thank you,
Henry

Just wondering, how have you differentiated your plugin from the free SEO plugins out there, which are quite richly featured? What I MIGHT do is offer it free through the WP repository (though again, you are up against AIO SEO and others there) but offer a premium version or SEO services upsell, or something similar on the back of it.

Who says you can't earn money as an eBay affiliate any more? My stats say otherwise

That's a great idea. Maybe just set time limits on free version? But would it give a better results vs adding it to clickbank? Or is it possible to do both?

Implementing AIO SEO functions doesn't seem that hard. I might do that but i wouldn't want to confuse people with too much functionality. What is really puzzling is the success of SEOPressor. But as i understand that the guy who made it is a IM guru?

I'm just wondering what's the best approach to take on this problem. If i would make it a clickbank product, i would have the people to make a really good quality sales page. Would that be enough to get a good amount of affiliates to promote my product or is it too competitive?

      Thank you for replying BTW.

EDIT: yes, i am differentiating my product right now. It gives advantages on content research.

I think the same marketing rules apply with your product as any other, some of which are:

    1) Differentiate (unique selling point as compared to other similar plugins)
    2) Sell BENEFITS, not features.

Clickbank sounds like it would work, why not (you can always give away a free, 'lite' version), but rule 2) is especially true - people want to hear what RESULTS they are going to get by using your plugin. How do you do that ethically with a SEO plugin? Well, I would leave that to you - what seems to sell on Clickbank are pretty extreme claims of "avalanches of server-busting traffic" and the like. If you can actually back that up, great! I would prefer a more realistic set of promises, maybe relating to the time and drudge-work the plugin can save users, something like that.

But for maximum exposure, my first thought is: free repository version (limited to 5 pages or something?) -> upsell to amazing, all-bells Clickbank premium version that users will gladly buy because the free version got them (some) results. Clickbank gives you access to a LOT of potential affiliates, but how to actually attract them is a whole other game that I don't have experience in... However, this is the best FREE resource I have come across regarding attracting affiliates, doing JVs and all that:

An absolute goldmine if you want to go that route.

With my plugin I have really gone the 'soft-launch' route - I am not even looking for affiliates right now. I started with a free repository plugin, got some buzz going, EVENTUALLY (too slowly) upgraded to a freemium, then paying model. Clickbank may happen for me one day but only when the plugin is REALLY worth $67-$97 and sells itself I am just slow, I guess, you may want to hurry things along a little!

    Thank you very much!

I will definitely listen to he interview.

My plan right now is to add another 1-2 features which will benefit the customers greatly and help out with the sales pitch.
