Ranking A Country Specific Domain in .com

Hi guys,

need some advice.

I have an e-commerce website with a .com.au domain that I'm trying to rank well in .com

Its ranking quite well for .com.au however almost non-existent in .com

The site is hosted in oz and doesn't have any geotargeting set up in webmaster tools.

How would you proceed?

Few ideas I've had so far:

1. create a .com site (100% unique content) with the same brand & products
2. just keep plugging away with the .com.au domain
3. 301 the country specific domain to .com domain - I'd be a little hesitant about this one because I do have quite a bit of local traffic and I know users look for the .com.au

Thanks.

Similar thread that I wrote with no one answer. my opinion is make new one with same brand name will be good because your traffic from AU still safe, but you have a ton of job to do since your SEO process start from zero, don't worry it will paid off right after your link campaign success.

    Cheers

I too have .com.au website and in fact i rank my site both in .com.au and .com also. I just tried myself in ranking the keywords first in .com.au and now it is automatically ranking in .com also. But the ranking is bit different.

Just optimize your site as what you do now to get your site also to rank in .com also.
