Best way to use Posterous

Posterous.com is a service that allows automatically posting articles to many blogs and services such as Wordpress, Blogger, LiveJournal, Facebook, Twitter, etc. The articles on the Posterous blog do rank well in Google.

Question for you guys: what is the best way to use Posterous?

If I publish the same articles to a dozen blogs, it will create a lot of duplicate content. On the other hand it will create a lot of backlinks. Should I use it or not? Does it lower the ranking of the original article on my main blog because it has a lot of duplicates?

How does Google consider various blogs having the exact same content?

    You are right. Posterous ranks well on Google at the moment. Of the sites you mentioned, Posterous often times ranks on top. And that is what I use the site for.

    I don't use it to post the same content everywhere. In fact, with the new Google updates, I am extra vigilant at making sure my content is at least 50% unique. I spin my articles via Bestspinner and UAW.

    In terms of automated submissions, I use SENukeX for that. This paid program creates the profiles, submits the articles, bookmarks them, indexes them, and links to them. You can create your own linking structure or use one of the many templates.

    I got a Posterous page to rank #1 on Google by building links to it using SENukeX.

    I also build "random" links using the manual method. I'm trying to keep things looking as "natural" as possible.

    On Posterous, does it make a difference whether you use the default address (under posterous domain) or customize with your own domain?

    I did customize with my own domain and I don't know if that means I don't benefit from Posterous's PR... but I do know it ranks fairly well.

      Rank well in google? I haven't even been able to my posterous blog.. "posterous is dead" indexed there. All the other sites I've tried have been indexed without effort. I'm just curious what you did to make it work for you so well? Thanks

    Hearing first time here about "Posterous", As far as having same content on various articles sites is concerned. I won't do it, I would only prefer to publish one content at one place only.

    When Google sees same content on various domains, then first indexed page get all value and other pages are considered secondary source and usually don't show up in Google results. Google won't penalize you for having same content on various source.

    Posterous, Tumblr, Blogspot, etc. sites can be used to give your keyword a push in the ranking as their authority is really good. Also posting unique content on such sites will help your rankings.
