Do Posts or Pages Rank Higher in Google?

I have created a website with over 200 pages and a few posts. I have actually noticed that the posts tend to rank a little bit higher in the search engines. I was wondering if this is because they are just really low competitive keywords or because they are posts?

Let me know.

They don't rank any higher than the other.

However, posts can be categorised and tagged. I recommend you use them.

many seo plugins add noindex to these pages, you should disable that. And setup your template to properly handle how these pages are displayed to avoid content penalties.

For example, I display the excerpt on the category pages, the full content on single pages and the_title alone on tag pages. Works out great and I have more unique pages in the search engines.

there's also a plugin that can convert pages to posts and vice versa. In fact i think it's called Vice Versa.

    Derek S.

    I think you are wrong.

Actually, I really don't think backlinks play as much of a role as people think. I have noticed this while doing research in the search engines with my own pages. I see that I am being outranked by someone who has 0 backlinks for this keyword, while I have about 150 to the page for the exact same keyword.

I really doubt backlinks do as much as people think.

LOL this is probably the funniest thing I have read all day. I would say back links make up 90% of googles off page algo.

Now sure you can rank extremely long tail, extremely non competitive keywords with very little backlinks but introduce any sort of serious competition and it comes down to who takes the lead with highest number of quality backlinks 100% of the time.

Even when you can rank an inner page with very little backlinks it's only because of the authority given to the domain by the links it has on it's main and other inner pages.

Yes, Backlinks affect. There are several other factors that affect the ranking but backlinks are the most powerful of them all.

Backlinks and quality content is all that defines what will rank and what will not. I expect that to Google, a Page and a Post look exactly the same.

Posts rank higher because it contains keywords that matches the search keyword.
Domains sometimes comes first if it has extensive backlinks.
