Well you get ranked for certain keyword phrases on a page. So you need to focus on outranking that page on that site.

A good way to do this is have great onpage SEO and build backlinks from high pr sites.

So even if the PR is at 6 I would be able to outrank it with good SEO and Backlinks?

Let me give you an example.

        I have a website that is a PR3.

For a certain keyword, here are the top 10 results in Google:

        1) PR3 (my site)
        2) PR9
        3) PR7
        4) PR9
        5) PR6
        6) PR2
        7) PR4
        8) PR5
        9) PR6
        10) PR2

The sad thing is that some ad-selling sites take PR seriously, and those PR9 and PR7 sites would be able to charge more for their ads than my PR3 site, even though they rank lower than mine.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

With some work (backlinking) and good on page seo optimization and maybe a couple of articles it should be achievable (depending on what niche your targeting.

Don't worry about PR. It's way overrated. Concentrate on quality content and backlinks.

That's what I would say too. Concentrate on content writing or articles submissions. Do it the natural way and you're work would surely bear some fruit. Not to mention the powers of SEO,don't forget to include that in your options. I really think it's a must when it comes to improving your page ranking.

This should be in the SEO section.

What's far more important than the PageRank of the competition, is whether they're actually targeting the keyword or keyword phrase.

A page with PR-6 might have 5,000 backlinks pointing towards it.

The question is: how many of those backlinks have the keyword or keyword phrase in the anchor text?

If none or not many, then it's a totally different game.

Like what everyone else is saying here - don't worry too much about the PageRank as this is something that people just get fixated on for some reason - I guess it's because it used to be really important like, 3 years ago or something but it really isn't any more.

Concentrate more on creating quality backlinks using good anchor text.

    Hi solrac2690,

First, websites don't have PR, PageRank is assigned to individual pages, not websites.

Second, Google does not rank search results based on PR, they rank based on relevance. Learn how Google determines relevance and build you pages with higher relevance and you will outrank other pages, regardless of their PR.

I think PR of your site is no matter, if you do something unique than must be they accept your link

Yeah, remember, pages rank in the SERPS for particular KEYWORDS whereas the authority a page has as seen in its PR may have been gained for totally different reasons not related to those keywords at all. Having said that I would rather see a lot of PR0/PRn/a on page one .

first check your competitor back link through back link checker. Then survey it and make the quality link than them.

Pagerank is irrelevant. Just check your competitors backlinks and do it better.
