Domain forwarding and SEO

Hi warriors, I'm hoping you can help.

I've written several articles promoting an affiliate product. The domain name in the bio box links to the vendor's sales page. Now I want to create my own sales page, but I might have to use a different domain name (the software I'm using won't allow me to transfer the existing domain).

Just wondering if I create a sales page with another domain name, and foward the original domain to the new URL, are the articles I've already written going to do anything for the organic page ranking of the sales page? So, the domain name in the articles will be forwarding to the sales page domain...but I'm not sure if that's going to help SEO.

Thanks!

If you use a permanent 301 redirect to the new domain all your SEO efforts from the original page will be transferred over once the search engines learn of the new route.

      Hi James

After doing a bit of research I understand that the 301 direct works when there has been an original page - however in this case there isn't actually a web page, just a domain name that is currently forward to a vendor's sales page. So I wasn't sure if that changes things in terms of SEO.

      Thanks for your reply!
